Governor Phil Murphy and Colonel Patrick Callahan Honor Elmora Troopers at State Police Headquarters

WEST TRENTON NJ, Earlier today, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and Colonel Patrick J. Callahan of the New Jersey State Police met with the Little League Elmora Troopers baseball team and their family and friends at the New Jersey State Police Museum and Log Cabin at Division Headquarters to celebrate their inspiring journey to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, P.A.

The Elmora Troopers had to beat the best teams in New Jersey to win the State Championship before heading to Connecticut to play in the Mid-Atlantic Region Championship where they won the tournament, which qualified them to participate in the Little League World Series. The Troopers were one of only eight teams from across the country to make it to the tournament and one of the final four teams in the United States bracket.

Ridgewood Should Learn From Past Mistakes

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood residents Steve Kim and Saurabh Dani continue to point out on on the Facebook page “It takes a Ridgewood Village ” ,the lack of transparency of the Board of Education . They both have raised serious concerns over plans by both the Ridgewood Library and the Ridgewood Board of Education to borrow and spend taxpayer money with little to no input from taxpayers.

Under the pretense of “surveys” where both the institutions sample residents opinions , the Ridgewood Library and the Ridgewood Board of Education move forward with previously agreed plans to borrow and spend with no weight given to residents input. When questioned with the simple mathematics , both institutions fall back to name calling ,branding residents as negative ,trouble makers and dissidents. Even going as far to enlist other residents to try to silence their neighbors.

Ridgewood NJ, the ugly reality is that America devotes more resources to higher education than other high-income countries . For about half of the approximately 2 million high school graduates that will enroll this fall in a quest for a four-year degree, and college for many will prove a lousy investment both for the nation and those students who will emerge heavily in debt.

The guiding premise beneath federal student loan programs beginning with the 1958 National Defense Education Act is that college is a good investment. For the nation, a better-prepared labor force increases productivity, and for students, because graduates earn better pay.

Minneapolis-Based “SportsHub” to Pay $30,000 for Unlawfully Operating a Fantasy Sports Site in New Jersey

Ridgewood NJ, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and the Division of Consumer Affairs (“the Division”) today announced that SportsHub Games Network, Inc. (“SportsHub”) has agreed to pay a $30,000 civil penalty for unlawfully operating an online fantasy sports site in New Jersey without a permit. The Minneapolis-based games provider also agreed to change its business practices to resolve allegations that its conduct violated the state’s consumer protection laws by, among other things, failing to clearly and conspicuously disclose that SportsHub collects personal information from consumers’ social media accounts and that it shares certain personal information with third parties.

Ridgewood NJ, A petition being submitted by hundreds of independent climate scientists and professionals from numerous countries to heads of the European Council, Commission and Parliament declares “There is No Climate Emergency.”

Briefly summarized, the request for consideration conveys five urgent messages:

Climate change is real and has been occurring with nature-driven cold and warm cycles for as long as the planet has existed.

There should be no surprise that the Earth has been warming through natural causes since the last Little Ice Age ended around 1870. Actual temperature increases, however, are far less than predicted by theoretical climate models.

There is no real evidence that anthropogenic (human-caused) CO2 emissions are a major or dangerous warming influence. They instead offer great benefits to agriculture, forestry and photosynthesis that is the basis for life.

There is also no scientific evidence that increasing CO2 levels are causing more natural disasters. However, CO2-reduction measures do have devastating impacts on wildlife (e.g. wind turbines), land use (e.g. forest clearance), and vital energy systems.

Energy policies must be based on scientific and economic realities — not upon a harmful and unrealistic “2050-carbon-neutral policy” driven by unfounded climate alarm.

Reader Calls DUI Laws , “Another money grab by NJ”

“Another money grab by NJ. Who rents these devices? It’s not the social drinker with .08 that gets snagged that’s the problem. But more importantly, the press fails to report that the NJ conviction rate is so high because drivers do NOT have the right to a jury trial since its a non-criminal offense .(But you can still get sent to jail by one of those hack appointed municipal court judges). It’s an unfair system that is a cash cow for NJ. If you look at Massachusetts , drivers may opt for a jury trial. As such, the conviction rate is considerably less because the prosecutors will plea bargain any “marginal” arrests down to a negligent operation charge. But hey it’s NJ and it’s all about the money just like the dumb laws that double speeding fines if it’s a 65 mph zone.”

TRENTON NJ, Assemblyman Kevin J. Rooney aims to eliminate the Motor Vehicle Commission’s online convenience fees with legislation he introduced last week.

“When we start issuing REAL IDs, the waiting rooms will be inundated with motorists seeking to update their licenses,” said Rooney. “It doesn’t help that the roll out has lagged here in New Jersey. It will congest agencies with people who need to get new drivers licenses before the October 1 deadline next year.”

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Board of Education Public Meeting will be tonight August 26, 2019 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Education Center, 49 Cottage Place .

At all regular meetings, two opportunities are provided for citizens to make comments. The public comment periods will be scheduled after presentations. or just prior to the end of the meeting, whichever occurs first. The first opportunity may be limited by the presiding officer . in order for the Board to continue with its scheduled agenda. The second opportunity will occur at the discretion of the presiding officer taking into consideration a break point in the agenda.

More Calls For Realistic Affordable Housing Reform

Middletown NJ, Senator Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso (both R-Monmouth) issued a statement following Middletown’s decision to withdraw from affordable housing negotiations:

“We stand behind Middletown’s decision to pull out of COAH discussions,” said O’Scanlon. “They’re tired of trying to play by the rules for years and years only to be told the hundreds of units they’ve built are never enough, and I completely understand their frustrations. For people to claim Middletown doesn’t want working-class families in their town is completely misguided.”

Snake Left at Newark Airport Checkpoint

Newark NJ, It appears that someone left their pet snake at a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint at Newark Liberty International Airport last night.

The 15-inch ring-necked snake, a thin black snake with a bright yellow band around the back of its neck, was spotted on the floor of the checkpoint in Terminal C by a youngster who heeded the advice, “If you see something, say something” when she spotted it and notified a TSA officer.

TSA begins verbal advisements of REAL ID requirements

Ridgewood NJ, The Transportation Security Administration announced today that it has begun verbally advising travelers who present non-compliant licenses of the upcoming REAL ID requirement and enforcement date. Beginning October 1, 2020, each traveler must present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or another acceptable form of identification, to fly within the United States. Individuals who are unable to verify their identity will not be permitted to enter the TSA checkpoint and will not be allowed to fly.

Twenty People Charged in Connection with Jersey Shore Drug Ring

Asbury Park NJ, Twenty people have been charged for their roles as members, associates, and suppliers of a drug-trafficking conspiracy that distributed cocaine and crack cocaine in the Monmouth County, New Jersey, area, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced today.

Nineteen defendants were arrested today and one remains at large. They are charged with conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine or 280 grams or more of crack cocaine (See chart below). The defendants arrested today are scheduled to have their initial appearances this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lois H. Goodman in Trenton federal court.

Hackensack NJ, BCRO Chairman Jack Zisa is calling on Gov. Murphy’s administration to explain the state’s convoluted vote by mail system that is confusing many voters throughout the state since its inception last year. The chairman also said the vote by mail system needs to be changed.

“Before we go through another General Election without a clear understanding of the vote by mail rules, I believe it is urgent for Gov. Murphy’s administration to clearly explain how the VBM will work this year and what election workers, and campaign officials and voters should know,” said Zisa. “It’s the governor’s legislation and it’s been confusing since it was signed.

But on Thursday, September 12, Dr. Teplinsky, who serves as Head of Breast Medical Oncology at Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care, will lace up her walking shoes to lead Valley Health System’s inaugural Valley Walks – A Weekly Walk with a Doctor.

Dr. Teplinsky developed this program in collaboration with Drs. Kariann Abbate and Benita Burke, two Valley Medical Group cardiologists. These three founding members of Valley’s Cardio-Oncology program recognized the need for all patients to develop a healthy lifestyle, whether as part of an overall wellness strategy or while coping with chronic disease.
