  • 2 in 3 travelers said they believe flight cancellations have become ‘the new norm’.
  • 53% also said they’re more likely to travel to their destination by road instead of plane.
  • 65% don’t believe the Department of Transport is doing enough to help travelers.
  • Interactive map showing cancellation compensation across America.

Newark NJ, Within just the first six months of 2022, nearly a quarter (24%) of U.S. flights have been delayed, of which the consequences have been exacerbated due to the surge in travel demand (dubbed ‘revenge travel‘) following pandemic restrictions being eased. By July, more flight cancellations had occurred thana there were throughout the entirety of 2021. The Department of Transportation has said airlines should bear the brunt of the blame due to flight overscheduling, followed by confusing guidelines on compensating passengers in refunds or vouchers for these inconveniences.

Newark NJ, Airport Armageddon: A surge in flight delays this summer has created chaos in airports around America, with the delay domino effect leaving travelers spending more time (and money) inside airports while they await their unpredictable departure. Airports are infamously renowned for their massively marked-up food and drink charges. In fact, an outrageously-priced $28 beer from a vendor at LaGuardia Airport recently made headlines due to its alarming cost. For passengers on standby (and who perhaps weren’t expecting to spend much money at the airport), flight delays can result in unforeseen, but unavoidably exorbitant, purchases of meals, snacks, and drinks. This can rack up significant costs – especially for traveling families – and particularly so if there are specific dietary requirements that are necessary.

Newark NJ, on Wednesday March 16th the US Senate Voted to end airline mask mandates. The proper policy is let each airline decide for itself whether it wants to require passengers to wear masks. Then flyers can choose for themselves whether they want to book flights on planes that either do or don’t require masks  The market works. That is how Senator Rand Paul sees it as well. He brought an amendment to the floor yesterday ending federal masks requirements on planes. It passed 57-40.
