Ridgewood NJ, Sherma Andrews Live at the Ridgewood Library September 9th . “Sherma Andrews produced a fantastic show, featuring songs from a selected group of legendary lady singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and many more! The Legendary Lady Singer Show creates a truly magical and memorable experience worth seeing over and over again. What a voice! What a woman! What a Lady Singer! Sherma Andrews is not just a phenomenal talent, she is an experience to remember.”

Sherma Andrews was born the youngest in a musically gifted family living in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad. As a child prodigy, Sherma began playing the accordion at age 4. Her perfect pitch and her ability to play any song after only one listening led her to serve as the church organist at age 7. In retrospect, she was always destined for a bright future in music.

Further, as a youngster, Sherma became a positive force in her community. Coming from a family that believed in giving, at an early age Sherma established herself as a messenger of hope through song. She participated in organizations dedicated to helping those that were less fortunate. Additionally, with her family, they offered meals and songs that comforted disadvantaged Trinidadians.

Sherma’s active participation in prestigious song competitions and talent shows won her numerous national awards. She placed first in the Caribbean Song Festival, establishing her as a formidable songwriter. Sherma was then awarded a National Merit Scholarship for gifted youth to study at the accredited Berklee College of Music, Boston MA, which is acclaimed by industry insiders to be this nation’s “go to” school for contemporary music.

At Berklee, Sherma studied with many of the most respected musicians and music professors in industry. It is not surprising that after graduating with honors and gaining a wealth of experience, she was asked to teach at Berklee. During that time, Sherma formed a band that toured through Switzerland and Germany. She was hailed by the German press as “A true star who has graced us with her presence before she vanishes beyond reach.” The tour culminated in an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
