Ridgewood NJ, in a Facebook post a poster commented on the on going antics of a Ridgewood resident who’s self-styled, self indulgent bloviating has become a mainstay of the public comment portion of Village council meetings. The poster raised concerns as to whether the commentor had gone “too far” ? Whether a commentor goes “too far” or not is something the Ridgewood blog deals with on a daily basis . Sometimes we come in a little over and sometimes a little under , the balance is often difficult to get just right.
The sideshow circus atmosphere this commentor brings to the Village Council meetings is usually an amusing respite adding a bit of comic relief into the mundane business of village government , but Wednesday many thought his childish antics and over the top hostility went a bit “too far” when he berated speakers who raised concerns about health risks associated with PFAS in the water and contaminated soil removal in the Village .
“Friend of the Vagianos administration” Rurik Halaby was absolutely merciless during his comments at Wednesday’s Village Council meeting.
He inappropriately chastised virtually every other member of the public who spoke, to a level that triggered warnings from both Mayor Paul Vagianos and Deputy Mayor Pamela Perron that his behavior was out of line.
Halaby made fun of speakers who expressed concern about contaminated soil recently found in the Village by proclaiming that “there’s likely not one square foot of New Jersey that isn’t contaminated.” He referred to a resident of Clinton Avenue as an “idiot” for questioning the origin of fill dirt used in a recent construction project on that street.
Continuing on his insensitive roll, Halaby used the term “paranoia” to describe what he thought about a resident’s efforts to stop the long standing practice of speakers having to announce their street address in order to make a public comment during meetings.
There is really no appropriate time, place, nor occasion for public behavior like the behavior Mr. Rurik Halaby displayed on Wednesday night.
Enough is enough. Mr. “The Vagianos administration is the greatest ever” should be banned from all public meetings until he’s able to put a sock in it.riased concerns over .
So ,how far is “too far” and what exactly is “too far ” anyway. Did this resident go “too far” or not ?

Normally this character’s antics can be fairly amusing but to call someone an idiot is highly disrespectful. This isn’t his first foray into name calling of residents who do not share the same perspective as he does but rightfully so, he finally got shut down by his pal the mayor who he threw a fundraising for re-election and from the deputy mayor. To put it in perspetive, he is a pseudo intellectual with a very low level of emotional intelligence and can’t help himself plus he is old and might be senile, so just chalk it off to that. you can tell that He gets so wrapped up in trying to promote our mayor who has basically failed on almost everything he has done, so he goes overboard and calls names and pokes fun at residents who have legitimate concerns over health issues that are currently top of mind for anyone who is paying attention.
The Blog does an excellent job of letting people post what is on their minds. Here we can speak the truth. On FB people get vilified for their opinions. On FB people write what they think others want to hear. FB is full of lurkers who read and read but are afraid to post. Here on The Blog we hear the TRUTH. Long live The Blog. Thank you James.

Kwak has got my vote too. I believe that she will really show these bozos how to do things right and for the most part Perron, Winograd and Weitz always vote with Vagianos. We know that Vagianos, Weitz and Winograd made promises to the sports groups. Unfortunately, if Vagianos gets re-elected, which I hope he does not, he will not take kindly to being challenged and to being held accountable. People are aware that Vagianos may continue to futher extend his promises to deliver the sports field for his pals and that he has everything under control and the contaminated soil will be fixed soon. He can’t know the answers to these outcomes and lawsuits could avail. I would venture to guess it is years away. Oh sure, he will plot and scheme but some of these things are out of his control and sphere of influence. Let’s see what Hallaby has to say about that.

As someone with kids in Ridgewood sports, I am so tired of listening to this guy talk about turf and fear mongering. STFU and let people decide what is right for their kids. We should not have to be intimidated by anyone.

They have proved to be total failures so they have to make it look like they’ve done a thing or 2. Name them. I’ll wait.
