Ridgewood NJ, on Tuesday, Starbucks announced its intention to engage in discussions with the Workers United union regarding bargaining agreements and union organizing.

In a statement, the company stated, “We have reached an agreement with Workers United to commence discussions on a foundational framework aimed at achieving collective bargaining agreements, which will include a fair process for organizing and the resolution of certain outstanding litigation.”

Furthermore, Starbucks indicated that it intends to utilize this framework to address litigation concerning partner benefits announced in May 2022 and an intellectual property lawsuit involving the Starbucks brand.

“As a gesture of good faith, Starbucks has committed to providing partners represented by Workers United with the benefits announced in May 2022, including credit card tipping,” the statement added.

The announcement comes after thousands of Starbucks workers across hundreds of stores went on strike in November, protesting the lack of a first contract despite nearly two years of organizing efforts.
