The weeks leading up to the Oct. 22 stabbing death of Suzanne Bardzell of Midland Park were marked by a fearful series of events as alleged killer Arthur J. Lomando was charged repeatedly with threatening, terrorizing and harassing the mother of two, according to police records released Thursday.

The files document nearly a dozen alleged incidents — several leading to criminal complaints filed by Bardzell and police in Midland Park and in Teaneck, where the victim worked as a private-school teacher — that preceded the killing of the 48-year-old in the driveway of her Godwin Avenue home.

The records were released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office as a result of an Open Public Records Act request by The Record.

  1. That poor woman had days of terror leading up to her murder. The police were aware of his stalking and threats. They were notified of multiple violations of the restriaining order.

And yet she was not helped.

To think there was a huge search for that man when they thought that he was suicidal and on the NJ transit tracks. Too bad he was not hit.

  2. It is just sickening to think what she endured, the fear, the terror. I pray for her every day.

  3. It’s too bad she didn’t have the ability to protect herself from this Psychopath.
The state of New Jersey does not issue permits to carry firearms such as Florida & Texas, where she would have had the ability to arm herself, and the outcome would have been different.
Very sad and possibly preventable .

  4. Molinelli and Midland Park PD enabled this murder, they are complicit.

  5. That’s right 914…the CCP process in New Jersey is simply absurd.
There is no possibility of obtaining a permit for ANY law abiding citizen in the state…it will simply just be denied. Who knows if this would have helped Suzanne or not but at least she would have had a choice. It would have been HER decision as to weather to arm herself or not, not some judge who’s rubber stamping denials. It’s time the citizens of NJ step up
For their rights under second amendment and demand the right to protect themselfs and their families from low life murderers like lomando.

  6. Or maybe the Bergen prosecutor and Midland PD could have just done their job

  7. Unfortunately the police show up after the fact and string the crime scene tape.
The is nothing they can do unless the bad actor commits a crime.
It’s unfortunate that in this state no private citizen is allowed to carry a gun to protect themselves.
I’m waiting for the democrats to now outlaw “machetes ” as a result of this tragedy .

  8. There were “nearly a dozen alleged events including criminal complaints to the Midland Park PD and Traneck PD”, and yet you say there was nothing they could do? Is that because the perp was a cop?

  9. Multiple violations of a restraining order aren’t a crime? So your solution is everyone carry guns and protect ourselves when the police can’t do their job? Why pay for a police force then?

  10. “Take the law into you own hands, because the police won’t enforce a restraining order?” Nice solution 4:39

  11. 10:03 your are delusional if you think. The police can protect everyone.
How did that work out for this poor woman?
If she had a gun, she would be alive today.
Gun vs machete. The gun will win.
Are your really that ignorant to make your statement about
Taking the law into your own hands..?
I guess you will be calling Sweeney and Weinberg to now ban machetes.

  12. So it’s okay for local police to conduct a manhunt for a suicidal ex-NYC cop two weeks before he murdered this poor mother, but they and the Bergen County prosecutor are faultless for not enforcing a restraining order that was violated multiple times? They couldn’t have patrolled the neighborhood where the woman lived every day in the two weeks leading to her cold-blooded murder in her driveway? Why have a police dept if a gun is the only way to protect yourself from repeated terror, threats and harassment?

  13. There is no point in local PD… Over paid, over unionized and over pensioned. I’ll protect myself thank you. You candy ass liberals who rely on the local PD to protect you are tools…grow a set of balls, be a man and protect yourself and your family…bunch of Mary’s.
