Teaneck NJ, a routine check of an improperly parked car in Teaneck led to the arrest of a man wanted on multiple warrants and the discovery of weapons and drugs, authorities said.
On November 6, around 5 p.m., detectives from the Teaneck Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit spotted a suspicious vehicle parked on Sussex Road. The car had a fictitious registration and was illegally parked on the roadway, prompting officers to investigate.
Arrest and Discovery
The vehicle’s driver, identified as Gene M. Wigfall, 48, of Teaneck, was found to have outstanding arrest warrants in Hackensack and Lincoln Park Municipal Courts.
A consensual search of the vehicle uncovered several items, including:
- A black Umarex XBG 4.5 mm BB gun
- A switchblade
- A ski mask
- Prescription pills
- Drug paraphernalia commonly associated with crack cocaine
Charges Filed
Wigfall now faces multiple charges, including:
- Certain persons prohibited from possessing a firearm
- Unlawful possession of a handgun
- Possession of an imitation firearm
- Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
He was taken to the Bergen County Correctional and Rehabilitation Center following his arrest.
Ongoing Investigation
Teaneck police are investigating whether Wigfall is connected to other crimes in the area, given the items recovered from his car.
