Teaneck NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of DASHAWN D. HOOKS (DOB: 09/29/2000; single; security guard) , Teaneck, NJ, on charges of possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
On Thursday, August 24, 2023, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of DASHAWN D. HOOKS during an Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that HOOKS used the Internet to view, download, possess, distribute, and share items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.
As a result of the investigation, DASHAWN D. HOOKS was arrested on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Paramus, NJ, and charged with second-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)ii; and second-degree distribution of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(a)i. HOOKS was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Teaneck Police Department for its assistance with this investigation.
