UPDATE: Teen Missing at Woodland Park’s Great Notch Reservoir

Woodland Park NJ, Woodland Park Police say a teenager is missing after going swimming in the Great Notch Reservoir in Woodland Park on Saturday afternoon is Passaic County.

Police and  fire department, as well as West Paterson volunteers, were on the scene. Authorities from Paterson, Clifton, Hawthorne, Wayne, the Passaic County’s sheriff office and a state police helicopter also searched the area.

Rescue crews were called around 3:45 p.m. after a 15-year-old disappeared . The search was called off at 8:15 p.m. with no sign of the 15-year-old. Authorities say the search will resume Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Woodland Park Residents –
Please be advised that yesterday at approximately 3:45 pm the WPPD received a report of a juvenile missing in the Great Notch Reservoir. The WPFD, PCSD and State Police, along with Paterson, Clifton, Wayne, Totowa and Hawthorne Fire Departments responded. A search was conducted until nightfall last night and began again this morning at 8:30 am.
This morning, first responders led by the WPFD, the WPPD and the PCSD, along with other agencies, reconvened the search and at approximately 10:00 am, PCSD divers located the body of the 15-year old Paterson resident.
The investigation in what led to this will continue in the coming days.
Out of respect and privacy of the family we will not be releasing the name of the individual. I ask that you pray for them and that God grant them the strength to know that he is in a better place.
I want to thank all our first responders who worked diligently yesterday and today.
