Ridgewood Nj, Ridgewood Police once again held the Chief Michael Feeney Junior Police Academy . This was the 9th annual Ridgewood Police Department Chief Michael Feeney Jr Police Academy. The Academy ran from June 27th to July 1st. The mission of the junior police academy is for students to learn and experience what emergency services do while serving the community.
Cadets learned about motor vehicle stops and patrol vehicles. Then it was on to the fire department for a tour and talk.They also visited Fort Wadsworth and the US Coast Guard -NY station. Cadets were granted special access to the Fort as well as the base. They went where the public can’t go and learned a great deal of history at the same time. The Guardsmen taught about what they do and what equipment they use for it. Then it was on to the boats!
Then the U.S. Coast Guard New York hosted members of the Junior New Milford Police Department and Chief Michael Feeney Junior Police Academy. During the visit, crew members from the U.S. Coast Guard Station New York, U.S. Coast Guard MSST New York – 91106, and Go Coast Guard NYC provided demonstrations of equipment, station tours.
Then the Jr Police Academy visited with the Port Authority Police at Newark Airport along with Ridgewood emergency services and Lieutenant Bolton for the use of force and taser demonstration.
