Ordinance 3066, was passed purposely in July 2007 when many residents were down the shore, previously applications to amend the Master Plan would never have even been considered. Ordinance 3066 made it easy for developers to challenge the Village Master plan and force changes init to accommodate development.
“Ordinance No. 3066, which sets forth the fees and processes involved in applying for an amendment to the master plan or development regulations, was originally passed in July 2007. The ordinance has become the subject of controversy as many believe it enabled the multiple master plan amendment applications that have dominated the agenda at Planning Board meetings.”https://theridgewoodblog.net/ridgewood-making-changes-to-controversial-ordinance-no-3066-known-by-many-as-pfunds-folly/
Ordinance No. 3066 allows these incongruous projects. No other town in New Jersey has this ordinance which was initially passed to aid the Valley Hospital development.
The ordinance has played a huge role in the litigation regarding Valley Hospital’s expansion, which many feel makes it difficult for objectors to have a say in the process.
The new Village council has decided to move forward with the process to repeal the ordinance during next week’s council meeting. As of now, the new version will be officially introduced at the Aug. 10 meeting.
Great news. #TaxValley
Nice to see the taking of the town back continue. Any comment, Rurik ?
This could not have happened while Gwenn was serving. Thank god for the new regime
Now that’s leadership. TAKE BACK OUR VILLAGE! Next…clean house.
is there a way to recall pfund?
Pfund should be replaced when his contract expires. The judgeship and thus a nice addition to his pension as a former councilman and mayor were a gift from his buddy Aronsohn. They have worked in sync for many years. Best to get rid of all of them and start over.
10:40, and when is that?
Wait a sec… You want the the government to stop the expansion of a free market enterprise? Wow! Doesn’t sound very Laissez-Faire to me.
wow econ 101 for you!
Repealing 3066 could be the most important thing this council does.
Great start.
I’ll believe it when it is ACTUALLY REPEALED.
5:42 – you have any doubts? None of the council members raised any objections last Wednesday when it was being proposed.
Pfund Pfucked us big time
Good news. Now challenge Valley’s “nor-for- profit” tax status using the gift wrapped Morristown precedent and get them to pay back taxes and annual property taxes on all of the buildings they own in the Village. Should be more than 10% of our annual municipal budget which will allow the Council and BOE to cut property taxes for everyone.
Why is Valley considered “untouchable”? It is going to pay Paramus “in lieu of taxes”. Why not Ridgewood? It owns lots of houses around the hospital that it rents out–surely not non-profit. it has a number of buildings used for Doctor’s offices–surely non-profit. it costs us a fortune in emergency responses–both fire and police–non-profit (yes, for Ridgewood!). If someone added up all the Valley property, Ridgewood might make some money on all the ‘for profit” property they claim is non-profit. Paramus held out before permitting them to come. Why can’t we collect for permitting them to operate all the profitable “non-profit (Ha!) operations?
