  1. Well that’s ironic….

  2. The council is throwing the EMT under the proverbial truck and for what reasons? It isn’t to save money since they have deemed it necessary to hire two new firemen and it isn’t to make our residents safer in times of emergency because as the proclamation stated they are on call 24-7 with trained staff. Our mayor needs to recuse herself from this action as she cannot be considered objective with family members who are employed Ridgewood firemen.

    1) Nice attempt at lying It’s obvious you are one of the part time EMTs who will be losing your part time job. The Council has made a proper and reasonable decision. The fact is the change from part time EMTs to Fire Department EMTs does make the village Residents safer, insuring that when you need an Ambulance you will get one without delay.
    2) The mayor does NOT need to recuse herself from this action!

  5. Just because she isn’t required to recuse herself doesn’t mean she shouldn’t. And no I am not a member of the EMT. I have lived in Ridgewood since the formation of the program and it is an asset to the community.

  6. Jim,

Nobody cares about a retired washed up fire chief who wasn’t good at his job when he was the chief. Collected millions in salary, then cost the Village more in lawsuits.

If it was such a good idea why didn’t you do it when you were chief. You couldn’t handle EMS if someone dropped in front of you.

Now, this is the point where you will undoubtedly accuse me of being a per diem. Which seems to be what you do to every comment supporting EMS. I’ll tell you right now that I’m not. I’m not even a current volunteer. What I can tell you is that Ridgewood Emergency Services is probably the most passionate, dedicated group that are determined to help the Village, and for you to come on here and continue to attack them during EMS week on the blog just shows what a spineless troll you are.

The position was never about the money these EMTs make. Having spoken to them, it’s more that it is yet another slap in the face. The position allowed for members to receive some compensation as they did every operational task of a department with no staffing. Instead Van Goor gets to have 2 Secretaries, 3 full time Captains, 8 Lieutenants, 30 other firefighters and some part time inspectors do his work for him while he sits like Scrooge McDuck on his ever growing pension in his crisp white never-worked-a-day-in-my-life shirt.

The concerns are for safety. The fire department’s patient care is atrocious, and by the time the town realizes that the Chief has no plan, the firefighters don’t want to and don’t know how to appropriately treat patients, and the corruption of all of this so the Mayor can pay off some favors to friends of the family that she has hired, it will all be too late.

  7. We wonder are they hiring any of the EMTs to make them a fireman. Our fire lady. We’re about a police recruit. Or they just out of the box. Lotta dirty politics going on, well I hope she worries about pickle ball.

  8. Other than your opinion what else do you have to support your claim the Mayor should recuse herself?

If your not an EMT then you must have Family or friends who are and your only complaining because the lost their part time job.

I have lived In Ridgewood all my life. Does that make me more of an expert on this than you, I don’t think so, so why did you feel the need to mention it?

The Village Council made the right decision, which is best for the community!

  9. The grumbling is all about the loss of income for certain individuals. That’s all, nothing more.

  11. It is common practice for elected officials to recuse themselves from voting matters when they have a personal connection regarding the matter at hand. She was told by many that perception is reality. It is pretty hard to overlook this breach of past president and to those that think that this is all about the grumblings of those losing their pay have no idea how many are not paid, the12 hour shifts and the other volunteer programs they are associated with. We should be rewarding our volunteers not sacking them.

  12. Just because YOU believe someone has a conflict of interest doesn’t make it a fact.
I have to believe that the Village Attorney is far more qualified to address this matter and obviously he did not have any concerns with the Mayor voting on this issue, which She obviously did!

You can claim all you like that She was told by many that perception is reality. The reality is her vote was valid and legal. Just because you disagree with it doesn’t make it any less valid !

Of course this whole thing is all about the grumblings of those losing their pay, And nothing more. The Paid EMTs can continue serving the Village as Volunteers if they chose to. I’m willing to bet they will not however, so we will see if it’s all about the pay or not by how many paid EMTs remain on as volunteers.

I can just see it now, in a court room near you.

Judge, will the Jury please read the verdict.

Lead Juror, based entirely on perception, and ignoring the evidence ,we the Jury find the defendant Guilty!

  15. Welcome back Charlie Slime, opps my Mistake, I mean Charlie Kime,

Charlie has come back to trash the Fire Chief’s, the Fire Department Officers and Firefighters and the Village that rejected him, Roberta and Paul. You may remember him, he was Paul Aronsohn right hand man and claimed Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld was the best Manager the Village ever had.

He was appointed to the Financial Advisory Committee commissioned by Paul Aronsohn. The people who had contact with him on the Financial Advisory Committee said he was a jerk and a nut case. Obviously they were correct.

Charlie is the prefect definition of a loser. He is so bad in his chosen profession he can’t hold a job for more than a few years. He can’t manage his own finances yet he was going to advise the Village Council on how to manage the towns finances, yea right.

He hates that Village Employees earn more then he can, or he ever will. Its obvious by his comment above. Jealousy is what drives his hate. Thankfully the Village got rid of him, Roberta and Paul. At least Paul and Roberta have the good sense to not stick their nose in Village Business any more, maybe you should follow their example Mr. Slime.
