If you’ve crossed the street by Graydon Pool, the Ridgewood Public Library or a few other busy locations around the Village, you’ve probably noticed the pedestrian-activated crosswalk flashers.
Pushing the button turns on rapid flashing LED lights, which are designed to increase driver awareness and enhance the visibility of pedestrians in crosswalks.
Research suggests that these types of lights at marked crosswalks can result in driver yielding rates as high as 98 percent. The Police Department has recommended an additional seven locations for the installation of these lights. Stay tuned!

Another waste of money.
Another uglification project for the CBD.
…but big kudos for the virtue signaling.
Glen Rock beat you to it.
Just like artificial turf.
So did Hawthorne
They should be posting all through the town to all pedestrians. Please look both ways before crossing the street. Let’s use common sense.
No more signs. Let’s put up signs asking people to read the signs. Come on already. At some point people, both pedestrians and drivers, need to be responsible for their actions. If not, there will be consequences.
They really should put a pedestrian-activated crosswalk flashers on Grove Street at Berkshire where there is a hidden brush opening to the bike/walk path. People and kids with bikes use it every day. The cars come speeding from off Paramus Rd. and Route 17, to beat the “traffic calming island” two lanes to one lane around a curve . Many cars to not stop to let the people & kids waiting to cross over there. Almost a blind curve. A flashing warning pedestrian activated light would help.
