Westwood NJ— In a chilling conclusion to a case that shocked the Tri-State area, a 20-year-old Westwood, New Jersey, resident has officially admitted to the brutal double murder of two family members.
Alan Abad (also known as Alina Abad) pleaded guilty on Tuesday, March 24, in Rockland County Court to first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. The plea comes just over a year after the horrific February 2025 attack in Spring Valley that left two women dead inside their own home.
A Carefree Facade: The TikTok Videos
What made this case particularly haunting were the social media posts uploaded just hours before the violence began. On the day of the killings, Abad shared videos on TikTok that showed no signs of the impending tragedy:
-
A Heartfelt Caption: One video showed Abad eating pizza with one of the victims, captioned: “I love my auntie.☺️”
-
Final Moments: Another video depicted Abad dancing outside, appearing carefree and happy only a short time before the deadly confrontation.
Details of the Deadly Attack
The incident took place on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at a residence on Gesner Drive in Spring Valley. According to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, the victims—Evelyn Aguilar-Agustin and Anabelly Aguilar—suffered “unspeakable” violence.
Prosecutors revealed a calculated motive: Abad first attacked Aguilar-Agustin to prevent her from calling the police. When the second aunt, Anabelly Aguilar, attempted to intervene or seek help, Abad fatally struck her as well.
The Medical Examiner reported:
-
Aguilar-Agustin: Suffered blunt force trauma to the head, face, and abdomen.
-
Anabelly Aguilar: Sustained severe head and neck injuries, including cervical spine fractures and brain hemorrhages.
Sentencing and Identity
While those close to Abad identify the 20-year-old as female, law enforcement and court documents have identified the defendant as male.
Following the guilty plea, Abad is expected to be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on June 22, 2026. While prosecutors originally pushed for the maximum sentence of life without the possibility of parole, the plea deal ensures a significant term behind bars for the Westwood native.
