Carlstadt NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MARLON MENDOZA-SALAS (DOB: 03/22/1991; married; truck driver) of Carlstadt, NJ on charges of Sexual Assault By Sexual Contact, Invasion Of Privacy, and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is a result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Carlstadt Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Berta.
On Thursday, April 8, 2021, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit received information that MARLON MENDOZA-SALAS engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 16 on multiple occasions in Bergen County. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Carlstadt Police Department revealed that MENDOZA-SALAS engaged in sexual assault by sexual contact with a child under the age of 13 and additionally invaded the privacy of a child under the age of 16 on more than one occasion.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, April 9, 2021, MARLON MENDOZA-SALAS was arrested at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and was charged with one count of Sexual Assault By Sexual Contact, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, a 2nd degree crime; one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a 2nd degree crime; one count of Invasion Of Privacy, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-9b, a 3rd degree crime; and one count of Invasion Of Privacy, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-9a, a 4th degree crime. MARLON MENDOZA-SALAS was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Carlstadt Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
