Ridgewood NJ, an early Saturday afternoon crash on September 28 at the intersection of East Glen Avenue and Northern Parkway in Ridgewood left two vehicles on the lawn of a nearby home. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to The Valley Hospital by Ridgewood Fire Department/EMS.

The accident involved a commercially-owned pickup truck traveling eastbound on East Glen Avenue, which reportedly T-boned an SUV heading northbound on Northern Parkway. A passenger in the SUV declined medical attention, while both vehicles were towed from the scene by a flatbed truck.

First responders from Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department/EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital were on site to assist the victims. While police did not confirm if any summonses would be issued, the accident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of roadway collisions and the importance of vigilant driving.

The swift response from emergency services ensured the scene was cleared quickly and the injured received prompt care.

  1. That is a tough intersection if you are heading north on Northern Parkway as you cannot see the eastbound traffic until you are essentially in the intersection.

    1. Rubbish. Stop at the sign like you’re supposed to, then steadily roll forward. And if the eastbound a-hole isn’t driving way too fast, and you’re paying attention, there should be no problem. But I know, that’s a lot to ask from the shithead drivers in this town. Must be something in the water.

      1. I agree. Respect the signs and everybody will be fine. Stop blaming the bushes.

  2. Living near that corner – I can tell you, once cars go through the light at maple/e Glen heading towards rt 17 – it’s a speedway. There are no signs about the speed until you get to the schools. And agree, if you are on NPKWY going north, those hedges on the property on the corner are a huge hinderance from seeing clearly down E Glen. So you start going . Tons of near misses.

Conversely, HS kids are going north to south and fly down NPKWY trying to get to school at 50 MPH.

Talk about safety, kids are crossing for school and people are crossing and walking to Wilkes.

Several residents have spoken about E Glen for months now – no ACTION by the Council. Enough !

    1. Yeah, blame it on the bushes. What the hell is the council supposed to do about your neighbors’ inability to behave themselves?

Sunday morning on Godwin some yokel sped past me, on the left, into the oncoming traffic lane! only to pull into the Dunkin Donuts ten seconds later. Yup. Wasn’t an emergency. They weren’t swerving to avoid falling rocks. They just to had get to Dunkin. Now. Just had to.

I’m surprised (and frankly disappointed) there aren’t more accidents.

      1. Corners are, by statute, supposed to be unobscured with a setback of shrubs and high fences of 4′. A few years ago, the Village went around and notified homeowners who were in violation of the setback.

  3. Another obstruction corner is on E. Glen at N. Pleasant end (by cemetery) Hedges on left at that corner, impede the view when trying to pull out making either a left turn or right turn onto E. Glen. Cars fly by going East on E. Glen.

    1. yes thats dangerous too. quite a few corners with hedges and fences block the view… north monroe has a few bad corners, so does godwin.
I wish the town would send whoever is responsible for enforcing the ordinance about the 45degree corner view to take a drive and start writing summons

      1. Many years ago, I lived on a corner in Allendale.

If I didn’t keep the forsythia on the corner brutally trimmed, I would get a note from the town to remind me to do same.

Of course, they noted that, if I did not want to do it, they would gladly do it for me.

        For a slight fee.
