Twp. of Washington Joins Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch

Twp. of Washington  NJ, in a press release from march 4th Twp. of Washington announced that it will be joining Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch , headquartered in Ridgewood at 30 Garber Square .  The township will add its Police, Fire and Emergency services to Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch or NWBCD .

Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch provides  its service to communities as an effective means by which to summon both emergency and non-emergency public safety assistance. They provide our public safety personnel with constant and reliable communication by gathering and relaying as much information as possible with the utmost precision, accuracy and speed.  This in turn enhances their level of prompt and professional service.   The Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch service area includes 17 municipalities covering over 70 square miles with a total population of 200,000 people.

Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch was formed as a partnership among three municipalities. The purpose of the consolidated dispatch center is to receive and dispatch all requests for public safety units in our primary communities and to function as a 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point for multiple communities. Today NWBCD provides 9-1-1 and dispatch services for Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Emerson, New Milford, Oradell, River Edge, Montvale, Park Ridge, Woodcliff Lake, River Vale, and Old Tappan and provides 9-1-1 PSAP services for Oakland, Franklin Lakes, Ramsey, Waldwick, Washington Township, and Rutherford.

  1. The sole function NWBCD will be performing for Washington Township is answering 911 calls. No radio dispatching services will be provided.
