Twp of Washington NJ, Twp of Washington Police remind residents with the impending rain to clear all storm drains of leaves and debris and not dump leaves in any of our waterways as mandated by Township ordinance. Link: https://www.
The Township has sent crews today (11/20) to remove leaves in the commonly flooded area of Cosman St & Bergen Ave in a proactive effort to prevent any issues. The elementary schools are picked up approximately every other day as requested by the WTPD.
Our DPW currently has three truck & front loader crews and one leaf vac crew working everyday with approved overtime until dark, on Saturdays, and now the authorization to work Sundays if warranted. Crews will be working Friday, 11/29 and there are no vacation days permitted during leaf season. Please keep in mind leaf removal is not their only job as other tasks need to be performed during the day as well.
As a reminder, the Township does NOT dump our leaf filled trucks at Sherry Field any longer.
All leaves must be taken to a facility (Environmental Renewal) located in Woodland Park which incurs a 1 1/2-hour turnaround time. Link: https://
This facility currently closes at 2 pm on Saturdays and is not open on Sunday, so once trucks are filled and the facility closed, pick-up ceases on those days. At this time two of our five trucks are in for repair service.
ZONE 3 pickup has begun although with the school and flood zone pick-ups, is delayed. We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication our DPW workers execute on a daily basis. Our resident’s safety is our number one priority, and we are continuing to do our best to ensure that. We ask for your continued support and patience in Week 3 of leaf removal.
