Oradell NJ, Bergen County Parks System celebrated the grand opening of the Van Buskirk Island County Park Paddle Center in Oradell. The county parks department and DPW have created something extremely special, a sanctuary and nature preserve that can best be experienced by water. Residents and visitors will now be able to explore the Hackensack River and it’s tributary channels and canals that flow from our dock near the Hackensack Waterworks all the way to the Oradell Avenue Bridge.
CALLING ALL WANNA-BE MOVIE STARS!
The Paddle Center will be operated by Captain Bill Sheehan and Hackensack Riverkeepers. The County thanked several local scouting groups who helped our Parks Department with restoration efforts, assisting with clearing walking pathways and restoring native plants to Van Buskirk Island.
No word on whether the Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco tried his hand at Kayaking.
