East Rutherford NJ, at approximately 1:30 PM, October 28th the Hackensack Fire Department Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Rescue, in collaboration with several UASI Fire Departments, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and expertise in response to a building collapse incident at 170 Union Street, East Rutherford. The coordinated effort resulted in the successful rescue of a heavily entrapped victim.
Upon receiving the emergency call, multiple fire departments promptly mobilized their resources to the scene. The responding units included the Millburn Shoring Truck, Bayonne Rescue, Port Authority Rescue, Paterson Rescue, Morristown Rescue, Elizabeth Ladder, Jersey City Rescue, and Newark Rescue. These highly skilled teams, operating under the UASI framework, demonstrated their commitment to public safety and their ability to work seamlessly together in challenging situations.
Upon arrival, the responding units conducted a thorough assessment of the scene and confirmed the presence of a victim trapped in the collapsed structure. With precision and coordination, the combined efforts of all departments involved were instrumental in safely extricating the victim from the debris.
Following the successful rescue, the victim was immediately transferred to Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support units for further medical evaluation and treatment. The patient was then transported to Hackensack Hospital for specialized care.
