Ridgewood NJ, on Wednesday evening, the Village Council officially approved the contract for much-needed field improvements at Hawes School. The project will focus on creating a safer and smoother playing surface by laying fresh sod, eliminating the current divots, and providing a better environment for students and athletes who use the field.
An important highlight of this initiative is that it will be funded entirely through the registration and permit fee trust fund, meaning there will be no impact on the village budget or the need to use any capital funding. This is a win-win for the community, as we prioritize safety and continue enhancing recreational spaces without financial strain.
A big thank you goes out to Ridgewood Parks and Recreation Department for their hard work and dedication in making this project happen.

“registration and permit fee trust fund” is an accounting gimmick.
Probably, just like the “parking authority”
Come budget time you’ll see a lot of sliding the numbers around, and then you’ll see a tax increase.
Maybe they can get another year out of blaming it on someone else.
Why didn’t the maroons (private entity that uses Ridgewood fields) kick something in?
Key part of your reply is “probably”. You really don’t know, speculation is unhelpful
Winograd should have been forced to recuse herself from this vote. Her husband, mr soccer is a huge conflict of interest to sell out the town for $95k
Aerate and throw down some seed…done!
As usual they did not inform the neighbors. Truckloads of dirt will be coming in. Going to be a shitshow
have that dirt tested
Why do the neighbors need to be notified. It’s in the meeting minutes. Not a secret.
This is obviously a mistake.
I saw the words “fresh sod.”
Think I heard that company hired to do the project is turf company
Fresh sod is not turf
