As set forth in the posted upcoming meeting agenda, the Village Council is re-introducing wording from their code which allows the Mayor to kick out of Village Hall anyone he interprets as deserving of it:
“Any person who shall disturb the peace of the Council, make impertinent or slanderous remarks or conduct himself in a boisterous manner while addressing the Council shall be forthwith barred by the presiding officer from further audience before the Council, except that if the speaker shall submit to proper order under these rules, permission for him to continue may be granted by a majority vote of the Council.”
2) A special ‘closed’ meeting (see below) is being held earlier that same day to discuss “interview of an attorney for the Schedler property and possible acquisition of property as well as other allowable items as may be necessary.”
Questions:
When staff layoffs are happening at Village Hall due to budgetary shortfalls, where is the $ coming from to hire an outside attorney? What type of attorney is it?
What properties are being considered for acquisition? Residential properties?
Friends, there had been an agreed upon plan between residents at Schedler and the previous Village Council to create a moderate-sized field and keep most of the trees in place that serve as a buffer for residents. That plan was discarded and now the current Mayor is pushing ahead with a plan that not only is going to affect the residents there but will also cost us in taxes and likely lawsuits down the road.
