Ridgewood NJ, periodically the Facebook self-righteous crowd ( the same group of people who voted to eliminate the school budget vote in a town that brags about a tradition of excellence) )decides to bash the Blog. “Ooooh,” they cry, in righteous indignation, “people on the Blog are so mean.” “Posters on the Blog are anonymous so their opinions are worthless.:” “Blog posters are bullies.” And an all-time favorite – “I never read the Blog.”
To all of these people we say Baloney! Of course you are all reading the Blog. You have it on your fancy iphone home screen. You check in on the Blog many times a day. And you post on the Blog, we know that you do, and we respect your right to do so. And many of you are the biggest bullies of all. One FB poster recently said that two of the candidates for VC and BOE “suck.” How nice. And you have the god-awful diatribe from an indignant idiot accusing Melanie Hooban of being an anti-Semite. There is someone saying that the Blog had zero impact on the recent election – not true at all, in fact The Blog supported Ms. Kwak, who won, and the Blog was squarely against Cris Kaufmann, who lost. One of the most indignant FB posters screamed in ALL CAPS constantly against one of the candidates, accusing her of bullying when, in fact, the poster was the biggest bully of all. You had Cris Kaufmann whose entire campaign platform consisted of bashing Ms. Kwak on Facebook. And the poster who kept saying that Ms. Hooban was a big bully, when in truth this poster has police complaints that have been signed against her for harassment. And the President of the Junior League of Bergen County( sounding like a bit of a bigot) wrote one nasty comment after the next about Ms. Kwak – The Junior League, which is supposed to promote women and yet Ms. Tunick was tearing this one particular woman to shreds. There is snootiness and sarcasm running rampant on Facebook, but these same individuals are throwing up their hands in fake dismay about the comments on the Blog. There are people with fake profile names and fake profile pictures who call others stupid, ignorant, and pathetic (Rachel Miriam Weissmann, with your anonymous identity, are you reading this?)
Let’s face it, folks, people love the Blog. And please do not blame the Blog for being a hotbed of nastiness, when the local Facebook pages are filled with your vitriol, posted openly by some residents and posted anonymously by other residents who opt to have fake profiles.
Maybe former Ridgewood resident landscape Architect James Rose said it best in his book , Gardens Make Me Laugh , “the problem is you live here”.

Haha, many of the folks who complained about blog and the FB group, participate in the discussions at both places and are nasty to others. When their false statements are exposed then they start to cry.
Vitriol, hate, bile, anger are all on the rise in this country, especially in public discourse. The behavior that used to be seen on the extreme fringes of society has become the mainstream. Why would Ridgewood be any different???
As long as everyone has their masks on when posting and reading the blog we will all be safe!!
We should be more worried about elected officials using campaign money to pay the media to do a hit piece against their opponents.
Residents participating in discussion is part of the democracy.

Frankly this town gets what it deserves after these election results.
You get another round of a frank Delvecchio’s lackey using our village government as a literal tunnel to state offices, and you get the same old BOE but you traded one half involved self righteous actual idiot for another.

Facebook is exploding. This post points out that the FB nasty people are hypocrites for hating on the blog. And guess what. They are making even MORE nasty comments. Geez people go back to your junior League and society clubs, ride your high horses there.
And what some of those self-righteous Facebook posters that despise The RIdgewood Blog seem most pissed about is that their attempts to post on The Blog are being stopped by James. So, they hate it, but they’re trying to post here regardless. Huh? Nut jobs for sure.
What a joke! One of the nut jobs complaining about the blog is apparently or was apparently involved in creating a fake website about a Board of Education matter. What nonsense. The person claims that a fake website is in no way comparable to the anonymity of the blog. What a joke.What’s good for the goose is not good for the gander! What self righteousness!
James is frankly the best thing to happen. We all see each other for who we really are.
People can post anonymously all they want but they have to live with it and honestly half of the people it’s obvious anyway.
Everyone in dear old ridgewood is coming to their judgment day because of this and you asked for it.

James Foytlin is the BEST. I am cracking up reading on FB all the people who hate the blog, but they read the blog. People who hate anonymous postings, but they have fake names on facebook. People who hate nasty posts yet they are posting nasty comments.
