  1. No chance landscapers follow this. They will still arrive at 715 and work well past 1pm on Saturday.

    1. Doremus Monday and Thursday mornings 715-730 starts the leaf blowing. Good morning to all! Godwin Ave past 730p with light or in the dark, rude.

  2. Your headline is misleading. The village always prohibited operation on Sundays. The new change involves manual tools and a time change.

  3. Ridgewood should ban homeowners from using a leaf blower for hours at a time everyday to blow leaves and other debris off their walkways onto their neighbors property. The homeowners who excessively use leaf blowers are the problem, hours at a time is not an exaggeration. Try being on a conference call for your job with an inconsiderate neighbor, it’s a nightmare. The landscaping guys are in and out quickly and move on. The real issue is leaf blowers, leaf blowers should be banned period, pick up a rake.

    2. Go back to the office like the rest of the community

  4. Oh, great. Now we’re going to see people calling the cops because someone is using a leaf blower.

    1. so might as well call the building department about all the illegal basketball nets overhanging the street which are a hazard to the sanition trucks

  5. I’m gonna start selling all different kind of rakes.

  6. As usual, another law which harms working people trying to make a living. Politicians seem to hate the middle and lower middle income people who have to work hard to be able to afford to live in New Jersey

  7. I don’t know if leaf blowers need to be banned, I’m not necessarily opposed to it. It would be nice to not hear them all day long spring to fall. The bigger problem is that so many people in Ridgewood are inconsiderate to their neighbors, and really just people in general. It’s a growing problem with this town in particular.

    1. What if your neighbor were helping you to maintain part of your lawn, sidewalk, and/or helped with snow removal, etc and they used power equipment to do the job after 9AM. Would you feel they were considerate? What if these same people clean their property regularly and try to accommodate their neighbors but sometimes have to do this work between 6-730pm because they work and try to make a living but come home around 6pm.

  8. Someone should make as sound muffled kit for the blowers.

  9. The dates given above are incorrect. The Village Council approved the wording change unanimously at its meeting on Wednesday, March 9. After the usual interval, it will go into effect on the morning of Wednesday, March 30.

  10. In summary, no Sunday blow jobs!

  11. I think most of us are for some kind of controlled working hours, especially on weekends .no one wants to hear powered tools on a Sunday at 8 o’clock in the morning. I know things have changed and most of us don’t mind if someone’s working around their house on Sunday from 11 to 3 then people don’t really complain too much. It’s the ones that start with you early and work way too late.

  12. I think the biggest problem is during the leaf season the village leaf crews start pushing leaves at 430 am. There’s no need for that. They can start at 6 AM.

  13. so we can’t cut our grass on the weekends unless it is Saturday morning? That is way too restrictive. What if it rains, do I have to take off work during the week to cut my grass?

    1. COMMERCIAL USE.

Do people even read the articles before rushing to complain?

      12
  14. Leaf blowers are a nuisance and extremely loud. Use a rake, it’s not taking any jobs away from anyone.

    1. How is someone suppose to know you are on a call. Do you put out a sign?

  15. Lawn mowers are loud but less of the problem, people mow their lawn once, they don’t ride over the same spot over and over. A lot of people using leaf blowers will blow their lawns for hours at a time. They either don’t know they are doing or are trying to be a nuisance. Decibels are decibels, if someone stood in their front yard and screamed at the top of their lungs for hours on end people would find that problematic. Noise is noise.

  16. Unfortunately, home owners using their own equipment are not governed by the ordinance.

    1. Do not see a lot of home owners with high powered back pack blowers getting every last piece of grass off the sidewalk. Wait a day or two it will dry up and blow away..

About half of the lawns on our street are mowed by the homeowner.

  17. 1- no one in ridgewood cuts their own lawn anymore. Don’t be silly with that comment.
2- doubtful there’s an abundance of blow jobs around here ANY day of the week or we wouldn’t need this nonsense in the first place.

    1. I cut my lawn and I clear the leaves

      1. I cut my own lawn and clear the leaves as well

  18. No need to start at 4am to push leaves and wake me up at that time.

    Start at 6am.

    2

  19. Does the ordinance cover commercial use only or is homeowner use of tools included included under the ordinance

  20. The mayor counsel need to get involved here. There’s no need to have leaf crews to start pushing leaves at 4 o’clock in the morning.
    No’no’no’
