Discussion:
Adjournment
I do hope it is thumbs down on this request.
No way!
This is going to get interesting
Incredibly dangerous. The town could be sued by the families of drivers who die after being distracted by it.
Now, now, let’s remember to be “business friendly”……….
wow what is happening to RIDGEWOOD. this is disgusting!
Let’s be realistic here, guys. This is technically Ridgewood, but it’s Rt 17. Not exactly a national park. It’s a major highway in the State that is a frequent subject by late night comedians for its unsightliness.
Hey, Clueless! “This is technically Ridgewood, but it’s Rt 17. Not exactly a national park. It’s a major highway…” Within feet of this Billboard are State and National historic landmarks, structures and PARKS. This entire district has a historic vista and listed in our Master Plan for preservation. See page 215-216 of the VOR Master Plan on Billboard. https://mods.ridgewoodnj.net/pdf/masterplan/Ridgewood_MP_FINAL_10_05_22.pdf
Please provide an updated map of what areas in “technically Ridgewood” we should be concerned about. I’m sure it will encompass all of the important people.
I would love to see it happen. Who cares Ridgewood’s not what are used to be. You never know it could be to the village benefit. Good for getting information out there. Because no one’s buying newspapers anymore.
Gotta admit, “Put up a billboard because no one reads newspapers anymore” isn’t an argument I was expecting. Breathtakingly stupid, but not expected.
“Please provide an updated map of what areas in “technically Ridgewood” we should be concerned about. I’m sure it will encompass all of the important people.”
Generally, anything west of RT 17
More specifically anything West of the Railroad Tracks and North of Ridgewood Ave.
Any other questions?
How could this possibly get approved in a place where Pickleball noise is considered almost a National crisis. Right? If it did go forward, that would seem kind of hypocritical on what constitutes a public nuisance.
Put it up. Love to see it bright up rt 17,
Go go bar, in lights
People seem to think that this will not affect actual Ridgewood residents. Actually, there is a large section of Ridgewood across Route 17 on the North side. The Glen School and Schedler area. The proposed height of the bill board seems to be actually higher than the sound barriers directly across from it so it will be beaming into our second story windows. Also, there is a whole newer area on Race Track road that has no sound barriers so they will have absolutely no protection against those powerful, shifting lights. Those of you who are concerned about the effect of the athletic field lights, consider those field lights as massively larger, massively brighter, in motion, and on 24 hours a day. The billboard will also cause our property values to drop further than being on route 17 does already. Who wants to live with the front, or back of their house fully brightly lighted 24 hours a day?
Please consider notifying members of the Board that this is just not acceptable near homes IN RIDGEWOOD that will be severely affected by their decision. Thank you.
If people are allowed to use loud, enough obnoxious leaf blowers all day and irritate their neighbors, then a digital billboard is fair game.
This digital billboard will help the downtown business district more than outdoor dining. Anyone who supports outdoor dining, clearly supports this digital billboard. Hope they build it quickly, so the town can reap the benefits as soon as possible. This billboard is not only wanted by the town, but desperately needed.
Maybe the billboard can say….“Looking for a town with a population of decent and kind people? Keep Driving!”
Perhaps the digital billboard could read…”Ridgewood, where insecurity and narcissism reign supreme.” It will let drivers know what their in-store for before getting into town.
Maybe the billboard can say:
“Ridgewood… Remember When It Was a Great Place to Live”
This billboard is great idea. Ridgewood needs to do more to be business friendly, especially after the hit small businesses took during covid. A digital billboard is a great start for Ridgewood to step into the 21st century and help small businesses.
Is it for Ridgewood ads or ANY ads for whoever pays?
It’s privately owned and operated. ANyone wiht $$ could use it.
It would be nice to see some billboards in town, not just on route 17. Ridgewood needs to do more to attract businesses and be more business friendly overall. There are few opportunities to advertise within town. Successful towns have already got on board and understand this.
Where do you see municipality – sponsored billboards?
You must be kidding! The planning board has already ruined the downtown! What used to be filled with nice shops is now banks! What more can the Planning Board due to ruin the town? You guessed it! Put up a billboard to winkle all night into neighbors homes!
Unbelievable! Why is every thing that no one wants get built on the East side of town! Hypocrisy!
Let me guess! Nobody on the Planning Board lives on the East side of town! This is the stupidest idea ever!!! Is everyone on the Planning Board completely NUTS!
This is the agenda of the Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting. Different from Planning Board.
Whoever invented flashing highway billboards and screens on car dashboards has a death wish…for other people.
TERRIBLE idea, dangerous, unsightly, cruel to many nearby.
