Saddle River NJ, A major multi-agency investigation has pulled back the curtain on a high-stakes burglary pattern spanning Bergen and Morris Counties. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella recently announced serious charges against 41-year-old Rogelio B. Cerdavera, formerly of Paterson, NJ, following a series of sophisticated residential break-ins.
While the charges have been filed, there is a catch: Cerdavera remains a fugitive from justice.
Inside the Investigation: A Trail of Ransacked Homes
Detectives from the Special Investigations Squad worked alongside local departments for nearly two years to connect the dots between three specific high-value incidents:
-
Saddle River (Sept 3, 2024): Police responded to a night-time alarm on Burning Hollow Road to find a rear door smashed. Multiple suspects fled the scene just before officers arrived.
-
Towaco/Montville (Sept 4, 2024): A brazen theft on Brookwood Road resulted in over $75,000 in stolen property after a rear glass door was shattered and a bedroom ransacked.
-
Cresskill (Dec 4, 2024): A similar “smash and ransack” entry occurred on Vaccaro Drive. While nothing was reported stolen, the M.O. matched the previous crimes perfectly.
The Charges Against Rogelio Cerdavera
On March 31, 2026, the investigation culminated in several heavy-hitting charges against Cerdavera, including:
-
Second-Degree Theft
-
Second-Degree Burglary
-
Third-Degree Burglary
