Paramus NJ, a construction project to install guard rails along the shoulder of Route 17 southbound in Paramus took an unexpected turn on Friday morning, September 27, when workers accidentally punctured a large water main. The incident led to the closure of both the right shoulder and right travel lane between the Paramus Park overpass and Midland Avenue as crews raced to contain the situation.

Fair Lawn Crash Downs Utility Pole Blocking Midland Avenue

Fair Lawn NJ, the driver of a 4-door Honda Accord sustained non-life threatening injuries after crashing into a utility pole late Friday afternoon, 08/11, on Midland Avenue in Fair Lawn. Fair Lawn EMS transported the victim to a local hospital. A utility pole downed in the crash blocked Midland Avenue in both directions for an extended period. Fair Lawn Police and Fair Lawn EMS responded to the incident along with repair crews from PSE&G’s Electric Division and Verizon. The Honda was towed from the scene.

Traffic on Route 17 Northbound Slowed to a Crawl after SUV hits Utility Pole in Paramus

Paramus NJ, traffic on Route 17 northbound in Paramus was slowed to a crawl on Tuesday evening, 05/11, as a result of a serious crash near the Midland Avenue overpass. Multiple injuries requiring ambulance transportation were reported following the crash of an SUV into a utility pole. Paramus Police, Paramus Fire Department, and Paramus EMS units responded to the incident along with mutual aid ambulances and a paramedic team from the local hospital consortium.

The Paramus Police Department is seeking information on Possible Attempted Child Abductions

Paramus NJ, the Paramus Police Department is seeking any possible information on two suspicious events . On Monday, May 3, 2021 officers interviewed a resident who reported that their ten (10) year old daughter was walking in the area of Van Binsberger Boulevard , near Midland Avenue at approximately 3:20 PM. At that time a vehicle described as possibly a Jeep Wrangler (described as jungle looking), dark in color pulled to the victim and asked “Do you want a ride” The victim ran home and notified the police. The suspect was described as a male white, heavyset, age possibly in 30-40’s. He had spikey hair, with a fade on the sides. He was possibly wearing a blue and white checkered shirt.

Multiple Vehicle Crash on 17 South Sends Several Victims to Area Hospitals

Paramus NJ, A multiple vehicle crash with multiple injuries slowed traffic on Route 17 southbound at Midland Avenue, Paramus on Tuesday night, 05/07 between 2130 and 2230 hours. Four (4) vehicles were involved according to Paramus Police. Two (2) of those were towed from the scene. Paramus EMS sent two (2) ambulances to transport victims to nearby hospitals. All travel lanes of the highway were closed with southbound traffic allowed to pass on the right shoulder only until the wrecks were removed from the roadway. Access to Route 17 southbound from Midland Avenue westbound was blocked while emergency responders worked at the scene.

Paramus NJ, An empty shipping container being transported by a tractor trailer on Route 17 southbound in Paramus, broke loose from its tie down devices, hit a overpass at Midland Avenue, and fell to the roadway striking an SUV in the process. No one was injured in the incident, which occurred early Wednesday afternoon, 04/05, but traffic on Route 17 southbound through Paramus was negatively impacted for several hours while the roadway was cleared of the container and the overpass was inspected. Paramus PD and NJDOT managed the incident scene. Two (2) heavy duty wreckers and a flat bed trailer were needed to remove and transport the damaged container from the scene.
