Westwood NJ, according to Westwood Mayor Ray Arroyo , “during the September public session of the Westwood Mayor and Council, I had the honor of swearing in three Westwood Volunteer Fire Department Cadets : Dominick Dente’, Declan Lemanquis and Shane Kelley.”
Mayor Arroyo continues, “We live in a time when some of our most cherished traditions, even our most selfless ones, are challenged and discarded. So it is heartening to see these young men come forward to embrace an historic service tradition, a continuous thread in the fabric of our community.”
“The picture of Shane, below the portrait of his grandfather, former Mayor Skip Kelley, which hangs in the Council Chamber, is a snapshot of Westwood ‘s past, present and future.
There’s a reason Westwood harbors so many third and fourth generation service families.”
“And it’s because these families teach their children that our beloved Westwood…is truly worth their sacrifice and commitment.”
