the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, studies continually show that many Americans are being paid by the government not to work more than to be in a job. This is not only bad for the economy, but bad for people’s health, and happiness. Employers have been saying that the work ethic is slipping with young workers. The WSJ poll results below seem to confirm that the younger generation puts less emphasis on work and excelling on the job than the boomer’s generation.
Perhaps attitudes and job performance will change over time. But for now, it appears that this shift in attitudes about giving it 100% May explain why productivity growth went negative in 2022.
If you have spent any time on the various main blogosphere, and hear the general narrative of those under 30, you need to be very worried about the future of this country.
LOL “blogosphere”.
Points, I guess, for not saying “Information Superhighway”.
You don’t appear to understand the difference. Blogosphere is a commonly used term to describe the collective platforms of Reddit, Twitter, and the various other social media platforms where people can post and comment. The other is just the Internet.
Clear now?
The old saw, “You gotta work if you wanna eat” no longer applies.
We have become France.
Turns out you have to pay your employees well for them to care. Weird, right?
The under 30 crowd have convinced themselves that the rich and corporations are not paying their fair share. What fair share actually means has never been defined. It’s all about life could be enjoyed with universal basic income and time could be devoted to gaming and getting high.
It’s unfortunate, but too many young people don’t feel the need to work as they can always go back to mom and dad for financial support. Here’s a thought parents….. don’t let them back in the house unless they’re working full time and pay you rent.
4 THUMBS DOWN? WEIRD.
When politicians such as NJ Governor “free stuff” continue their handouts, then why even bother to work? The Democratic government wants individuals to live off of the government. The millennial generation will perpetually complain that their wages aren’t high enough. What’s their plan – to not work and protest? The Greatest Generation went to war and held it together. This generation can’t change the tire on their car.
The Millenials are in their late 30’s and early 40’s now. (And their wages ARE objectively worse than previous generations, which you might have noticed in the past 20 years of alarmist “millenials are killing the ___ industry” headlines)
How out of touch are you?
So why the drop in wage numbers? Greedy and evil corporations? Or, perhaps, an entire world that is now out competing us ?
The “Snowflakes” generation are used to getting a trophy for just showing up; Everyone gets a trophy. Used to having their helicopter parents do everything for them and give them everything. Scary what the future is for this country if they feel they’re so entitled without having to earn it and instead learn to contribute to the well being of everyone in country.
“This generation can’t change the tire on their car.”
Ah, yes, that Liberty Mutual commercial……….
