THE RECORD
Could it have ended differently?
Suzanne Bardzell left a long trail of criminal complaints against her ex-boyfriend over the past month leading up to her death. She obtained a temporary restraining order and called Midland Park police in desperation again and again to report he violated that order. At some point, perhaps fearing for her life, she had a camera surveillance system installed at her home.
For all of her precautions, police say her former boyfriend fatally stabbed her in her driveway on Oct. 22 after a tumultuous 17 days that began when he allegedly broke into her home, threatening her life, and included a massive manhunt after he allegedly violated a restraining order. The available court records in Bardzell’s case are incomplete, and make it unclear, in hindsight, whether any steps were missed by law enforcement and the court system in their efforts to protect her.
Give her a pistol, arms training and a concealed carry permit. Problem solved.
The court records on something that happened last month are incomplete? Or the blue wall of silence means they’re incomplete?
If she wanted to get a concealed carry permit in nj to protect herself it would not have been issued. Unlike the majority of states, New Jersey does not allow law abiding citizens to protect themselves. What a discgrace that this could have been avoided.
The motor was still running! She would never have had time to do anything.
agreed 3:37, the Midland PD and Bergen Prosecutor dropped the ball on this protecting one of their cousins, a disgraced NYPD reject
No need for cops, let’s just have everyone carry a gun
10:50 and 7:04….get your heads out if your ass. you have NO IDEA if she could have done anything least because the engine was running. the plain fact is SHE NEVER HAD A CHANCE to do ANYTHING because in NJ you can’t get a CCP to protect yourself…absolute bullshit.
If the killer even thought she had a gun, chances are he might have not attacked.
A gun is a deterrent just as often as it used defensively.
