Saddle Brook NJ, a violent attack at a Saddle Brook pet store has left a woman seriously injured after she was shot in the face with a crossbow, authorities confirmed.

Incident Details

The shooting occurred around 5:55 p.m. on Monday at a business located on Route 46 East. Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a severely injured woman at her workplace. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.

The suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, and officials have not yet released details about what led to the attack.

Connection to Birds By Joe 2?

A Facebook post from Birds By Joe 2—a local exotic pet store—claimed that the store’s owner, Katarina, was the victim, though police have yet to confirm this information. The store has since temporarily closed, citing ongoing investigations.

This is the same pet store where a $7,000 parrot was stolen and later returned unharmed. However, it remains unclear whether the crossbow attack is connected to the parrot theft, as suspects in both incidents are still unaccounted for.

Investigation Underway

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit is leading the attempted homicide investigation, working alongside the Saddle Brook Police Department. The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the search for the suspect continues.
