>Although the much talked about six-foot deep mass of woodchips has long since been removed from the Crest Road Overlook, just last night did Village Council members officially award the $12K clean up project contract to Ross and Associates, Inc., 54 Main Street, Hackensack.
Ross, a commercial landscaper who plowed snow under contract for the Village this past winter, completed the hazardous assignment in late June, after it was determined that the Village’s own crews did not have the necessary safety training, or hydraulic power equipment at hand.
Still unanswered it the question of who ordered such a massive load of woodchips dumped at the overlook in November. All fingers seem to be pointing at a member of the Village Council, but no one on the Council has yet stepped forward and confessed to any first hand involvement in the process.
>was this mystery member of the village council authorized to order this? If not, than he/she should pay the tab. Sorry.. but in other communities, people are put on charges for this stuff by the D.A.s office.
>hummm.the workers did what they were told.and yes that is a lot of money for a job loke that.the wood chips should of not been removed at all now it looks like shit.at least it looked a hell abeeter with the wood chips so dumm.you dam council people have no balls whats so ever you spend money for such bs.so for nove of you imprees me at all nowonder pat is geting out.can you blame him.I told you all they dont car about the workers or any one else.you made a bade move.so dum.what a waste of money all i can say that i know who said to put the wood chips up at crest rd,but you know the chips should of never got moved at all I live on crest rd for 23years and it looked so nice for a litle time any way.well to you all it is true you dont have no guts or a back bone.
>2:54pm… you sound like a complete idiot. Yes, the workers did what they were told. Tks. Now move on.
We’re talking about who ordered it and why the public cant get a straight answer. Stop clogging the blog with your hmmmmm crap.
Who ordered this project and why? Anyone know… lets get it out there, b/c we all paid for it.
>Perhaps someone should ask Deputy Mayor Betty G. Wiest if she had any first hand involvement in this project.
While speaking to Ms. Wiest, you might also wish to ask her if she directed the Village’s zoning officer to begin enforcing the municipal sign ordinance by asking those with “Stop Valley Expansion” signs to remove them.
>I THINK THE NEW SIGNS SHOULD SAY STOP BETTY FROM GOING ANY FURTHER IN ANY THING ELSE.SHE SHOULD THINK ABOUT GETING OUT FROM BEING THE DEPUTY MAYOR.
>O SHE DID .AND THAT WAS TO TAKE OUT THE WOOD CHIPS.NO DAM GOOD THEY SHOUD OF STAYED ON THE DAM HILL.
>HER NEW NAME IS DEPUTY DOG,WOODCHIP.
>A HOW MUCH CAN A WOODCHUCK CHUCK ON SOME NICE WOODCHIPS.HA,HA,HA,YO BETTY.
>I DONT KNOW ABOUT THIS GUY,I HEAR HE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE SOME OF THE JOBS A WAY FROM VILLAGE WORKERS.NOT A GOOD THING HE WOULD LOVE TO CUT ALL THE GRASS IN TOWN WHAT IS NEXT,WAKE UP AND SMELL THE BS THAT IS GOING ON.IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR JOB.
>”did not have the necessary safety training…” You mean that you now need a degree to spread wood chips? What the heck is wrong with these people? There must be some sort of air poisoning (probably from sniffing chimneas) that is causing the mass of stupidity in Ridgewood. Sign me: Less than enamored.
>wood chips def were a visual improvement. hid all the ugly weeds, beer bottles and litter. It MUST have absorbed water but those whiners on hillcrest took advantage of the situation to screw the town for a few bucks after 10 inches of rain. I hope they enjoy the view of the beer bottles. when i walk my dog I’ll throw the poop over the wall since i cant put it in the storm drains anymore… town shoulda fought these folks but perhaps the 12k was cheaper than a lawsuit…
>Hillcrest road residents did not benefit or make any money from the wood chips. In fact, they spent money on a private engineering report that was submitted to the village and they spent countless hours at meetings and researching the issue. This was all done months before the record rainfall.
The reporting structure of the village government is very murky. Who is authorized to create work orders? What controls are in place to stop unecessary work from happening? What stops village employees or council members from using village resources to their benefit or to support their own agenda?
>10:36 am…. dead on!!! I dont care if the Hillcrest residents supported this or not. I dont doubt that you had to spend your own money to “defend” your rights against the BLOATED mess that is our local government. Its the only way around here.
So… lay off of the Hillcrest residents. Lets answer the question at hand: WHO ordered this and why? WHO authorized it.. and then WHO wouldnt own up to it once it was set to cost $12g to remove.
We dont need to hear about town jobs, about local contractors, etc… Lets stay on target here.
Why was this ordered and who is responsible for spending our tax dollars?
>all I can say that it was local contractor,he like to clean up the hill so he did.and thats all.so let it go.no the hill looks like dog doo.real good.and the people on hillcrest rd.the dam wood chips did not make your home flood.it was the storm we had over 7.inc,s of water plus the snow melt ,and that was 8,inc,s.so come on.
>All fingers appear to be pointing in the direction of Deputy Mayor Betty G. Wiest.
>7:19 Do you happen to live on Hillcrest? I have driven along, jogged along and have walked along the area in question for many years. The improvement that was done before all of this complaining was incredible. I have seen countless individuals, couples, and families stop along that area and look at the beauty of Ridgewood. I would even guess that the complaining parties have done it themselves especially when they have their out of town guests stop in. I don’t think this was about flooding. With as much rain as we had that particular day, I can’t imagine that someone would think that they were flooded because of woodchips…it had to do with rising water tables. This is why homes on flat land got flooded as well as homes on a hill. Get over yourselves with the “woe is me” and “those poor homeowners on Hillcrest”. I’d like to know who ordered the woodchips so I can thank them. This is the first good use of my tax money in quite some time and at 46k per year that I pay this town (this year anyway but an average of 30k for 18 yrs that’s…well using TERC math…a lot of drawing.) I will be more than happy for the town to do it again.
>boy i love you.you are so cool.
>o woodchip o woodchip.the hill needs more woodchips.well i called the person about the need to put more wood chips on the hill and that person said to me not a problem, just talk to the people on hillcrest and they will take care of it for you.all i can say about this dam council has no guts.what a shame.this will never stop.you will see that the woody wood chiper will be back very soon.
