Washington Twp NJ, A two (2) vehicle, Friday morning, 05/04, crash in front of 1149 Washington Avenue, Washington Township resulted in a non life threatening injury to one (1) driver, who was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. A flatbed tow truck removed both wrecks from the scene. Washington Township Police and EMS responded to aid the crash victim.

Ridgewood NJ, Linwood Avenue will be closed to through traffic on Tuesday, October 10th and Wednesday, October 11th for roadway milling and on Tuesday, October 17th for paving (weather permitting). The closure will be from Paramus Road to Pascack Road. A detour will be set up sending traffic to East Ridgewood Ave. Access for local houses and businesses will be allowed, however expect delays. The work is expected to start at 7am and finish at 5pm each day. Thank you for your patience during this county road resurfacing project.

Washington Twp NJ, Washington Twp Police , Fire and EMT’s responded to what appeared to a false alarm on Hampton Court at around 3pm on Tuesday 10/3 .Police received a call from an elderly women claiming to be in trouble. After repeated attempts were made to reach the women , Police and Fire used a latter to enter the townhouse only to find it empty with no sign of the women . Whereabouts of the women was is as of yet is undetermined , but her car was also missing from her garage .

Update : Women returned to her home around 530pm and was then recontacted by Washington Twp . Police .

Washington Twp NJ, An elderly adult female occupant of a home on Taylor Street in Washington Township was rescued by three (3) neighbors after a large tree toppled onto her home on Monday afternoon, 06/26. The resident was uninjured in the incident. Washington Township Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. A municipal building sub code official was also requested to respond.

Washington Twp NJ, A Washington Township EMS ambulance transported the adult female driver of a 4-door sedan to Hackensack University Medical Center North following a crash on Washington Avenue near Pascack Road in Washington Township on Thursday evening, 01/05. The driver lost control of her vehicle, left the traveled roadway, and hit a tree before coming to a stop in a wooded area. The damaged vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Washington Township PD is investigating the incident. The victim sustained injuries that appeared to have been non life threatening.

Washington Twp NJ, An on-duty Washington Township police officer sustained non life threatening injuries when her marked police cruiser was involved in a minor collision with a passenger vehicle on Thursday afternoon, 09/08. She was transported by ambulance to the Hackensack University Medical Center’s North Campus in Westwood. The crash occurred on Pascack Road near the Seasons restaurant. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by flatbed tow trucks. No information was available at the crash site as to whether the police officer was responding to an emergency at the time of the incident. The other vehicle’s driver, an adult female, was uninjured in the mishap.

Paramus NJ, A father and his two (2) young sons escaped injury following a crash in which their Mercedes SUV slid off of northbound Pascack Road near Linwood Avenue in Paramus and became impaled on a utility guy wire. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Paramus and Washington Township PD units responded to the incident, which occurred at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, 2/16.

State Police Investigates Double Fatal Turnpike Crash

North Bergen, N.J. – The New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and personnel from Newark Station, are investigating a crash involving a Washington Township, Bergen County, police car that struck two pedestrians on the New Jersey Turnpike earlier today at approximately 1:06 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Jason Champion, 41, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Nuwnah Laroche, 34, of East Elmhurst, were traveling in a 2001 Cadillac Escalade when it became disabled on the southbound side of the roadway. Sometime later, both individuals were pedestrians in left, northbound lane in the area of milepost 115, when they were struck by a Washington Township Police car driven by 46-year-old Officer Arsenio Pecora.

According to the Washington Township Police Department, Officer Pecora was returning from training at Fort Dix at the time of the accident. The victims were pronounced deceased on scene at 4:33 a.m. via telemetry. The cause and circumstances of the crash are currently under investigation.
