Clarification for Voters: Vote in the June 4th Primary! Make your voices heard!

Clarification for Voters:  Vote in the June 4th Primary!  Make your voices heard!

Even if you are UNAFFILIATED, you can vote for the candidates below.  You will be able to switch back the next day if you wish.  Do NOT miss this opportunity to have conservative values represented in NJ.  It is very simple and easy to do – we know you want conservative representation but you’re going to have to vote to get it.

Just a reminder to vote in the June 4th Primary!  Make your voices heard!

Rae Rinaldi and Stephen Moss are the “Conservative Republicans” in Column 3.

These candidates are: Pro-Life / Pro- 2nd Amendment and Pro-Limited Government

This is the only vote for State Committee – this is the ONLY vote for this State Committee is Tuesday, June 4th.  They are NOT on the slate in November.

Whoever wins does not have to run in November but becomes the State Committeeman/woman just with the Primary vote, so don’t think your vote in June doesn’t count – because it does!

So if you are in Bergen County (OR have friends and family in Bergen County tell them to),  get out on June 4 Tuesday and vote!  If you are in another county check out who are the conservatives and support them!

Check out their Facebook page and “like” it   https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rae-Rinaldi-and-Steve-Moss-for-State-Committee-2013-Bergen-County/532034093520583?fref=ts

Two-Thirds of Americans Don’t Know If They Will Insure Under Obamacare

Two-Thirds of Americans Don’t Know If They Will Insure Under Obamacare
Published: Monday, 3 Jun 2013 | 12:00 AM ET
By: Dan Mangan | Writer

There’s no assurance folks will be buying insurance under Obamacare, and that could spell trouble for the Affordable Care Act.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans who currently lack health insurance don’t know yet if they will purchase that coverage by the Jan. 1 deadline set by the ACA, a new survey revealed Monday.

And less than half of those in the survey released by InsuranceQuotes.com think they’ll get better health care after Obamacare takes full effect. Nearly 50 percent believe the ACA will make it more difficult for them to get tests and procedures done in a timely manner, according to the phone survey of 1,001 adult Americans conducted in early May.

And a whopping 68 percent of low-income Americans aren’t sure they qualify for tax credits that would subsidize their purchase of health insurance—despite they fact that they almost invariably will qualify, the survey found. That population is most likely to benefit from government subsidies under the health-care reform law.

RIDGEWOOD SCHOOLS BREAKFAST DAYS IS ALL THIS WEEK

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day?”

It’s true. In fact, breakfast may help control Americans’ increasing problem with overweight and obesity. A number of studies show that people who successfully maintain a significant weight loss eat breakfast just about every day.

All elementary and middle school children are asked to bring non-perishable breakfast food items to school June 3-7, to be collected for the Social Service Pantry. Please call Judy Saydah at SSA with questions: 201-444-2980.

Democrats look to squash Christie’s Proposed School Voucher Program

Democrats look to squash Christie’s Proposed School Voucher Program
June .2,2013
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, At $2 million, the Christie administration’s proposed school voucher program is a very small piece of the $12.4 billion that the state projects it will spend on public education next year., but Democrats looking to support the all powerfull teachers union are looking to put an end to educational opportunity for the poor.

Democrats lead by State Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen), the Democratic majority leader, this weekend repeated earlier comments that she was convinced the Democrats would put an end to the pilot, which would provide $10,000 vouchers for low-income students to attend qualifying schools, public or private. (https://www.njspotlight.com/stories/13/06/03/christie-s-proposed-school-voucher-program-at-latest-crossroads/ )

State Sen. Paul Sarlo (D-Bergen), the chairman of the budget committee, last month also said much of  the same thing: there were too many Democrats against it being part of an appropriations bill — if any law at all. ( https://www.njspotlight.com/stories/13/06/03/christie-s-proposed-school-voucher-program-at-latest-crossroads/ )

Gov, Christie and pro school choice vocatives have been pressing for vouchers since he first ran for governor, and it is the one piece of his education agenda still unfulfilled..

School choice advocates have been looking to break the monopoly grip on public education and have made some inroads but the NJEA controls to many democrat votes and continues to wage a war on the poor denying them educational opportunities afforded  the wealthy and middle classes.

State Democrats seem all to happy to allow where on lives to determine the quality of eduction a child receives .

Cicada hype a bust

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, This year’s brood of cicadas are currently popping up on the east coast — but not quite with the drama we initially expected.

The Cicada had been predicted to descend on the metro New York area around Memorial day like plague of Biblical proportions but colder weather and heavy rains seem to have keep the massive Cicada invasion in check.

While it is difficult to track cicadas because there was not a lot of research technology available seventeen years ago when the brood two group last came around , the large ugly bug so far seems noticeably absent from this years summer festivities

NJT NORTHEAST CORRIDOR TRACK WORK BEGINS JUNE 2

NJT NORTHEAST CORRIDOR TRACK WORK BEGINS JUNE 2

Customers encouraged to review new timetables

May 16, 2013

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT today announced that new rail timetables will take effect Sunday, June 2, reflecting adjustments made to accommodate Amtrak’s long-term tie replacement project on the Northeast Corridor.  The project will require Amtrak to take one of four tracks out of service on a portion of the line, affecting both weekday and weekend train schedules.

Next month, Amtrak, which owns and maintains the Northeast Corridor, will continue a railroad tie replacement project that began earlier this year, advancing the work to areas where station stops are located.  Their crews will begin working on Track 4, the local outbound (to Trenton) track, which will be taken out of service for several months between New Brunswick and Metuchen.

“While we have worked very closely with Amtrak to minimize the impact to Northeast Corridor customers, the reduced track capacity is similar to taking a lane out of service on a busy superhighway,” said NJ TRANSIT Executive Director James Weinstein.  “Some customers will experience changes in their departure times and longer trip times—however, the work Amtrak is performing now will benefit customers in the long term.”

In order to minimize congestion and reduce delays from the tie replacement project, NJ TRANSIT designed the new Northeast Corridor schedule to make the most of the remaining three tracks, keeping one track in each direction open for local service while using the remaining track for express service in the peak direction.

The new schedule will show slightly longer trip times for trains to/from Trenton, adjustments to departure times, and a reduction in the total number of train stops through the work zone during non-peak hours in an effort to mitigate congestion and minimize delays.

Among the impacts:

Customers traveling to or from the “middle zone” (New Brunswick, Edison and Metuchen stations) will be most affected by the project because only three tracks will be available. NJ TRANSIT has worked with Amtrak to minimize disruption for customers traveling in the peak direction (to Newark/New York in the morning and to Trenton in the afternoon). Peak‐direction customers will not see a significant reduction in the number of trains, but trip times will be extended. Customers traveling in the “reverse peak” direction (toward Trenton in the morning or toward Newark/New York in the afternoon) will have fewer trains due to limited track capacity.
With Track 4 out of service, trains will not be able to reach the platform at New Brunswick, Edison and Metuchen stations. At these stations only, Amtrak will install special platform bridges, enabling customers to board/alight trains on the adjacent “express” track at the same height as the regular platform. Customers boarding at these stations must not stand or wait on the platform bridges until directed by a uniformed crew member. The platform bridges will line up with the end doors of most cars, but center doors (and “quarter‐point” doors near the stairs on multilevel cars) will not be used. Customers detraining at New Brunswick, Edison and Metuchen are advised to use end doors only and to listen for announcements from train crews.
Customers traveling to/from stations in the outer and inner zones—that is, stations from Jersey Avenue west and Metropark east—will not see a significant reduction in service. Some departure times will be adjusted, so customers are advised to review timetables carefully.
Amtrak estimates that Track 4 will be out of service for several months, but a more exact projection will not be known until the work begins. When the work on Track 4 is complete, Amtrak will move to Track 1, the inbound local track, to replace ties in the same area between New Brunswick and Metuchen. A new timetable will be issued when Track 4 is returned to service and Track 1 is taken out of service. Overall, the tie replacement project will continue into the fall.

In addition, the reduced track capacity will limit NJ TRANSIT’s ability to work around operational problems (e.g. a disabled train or switch problem), and delays from these types of issues could be longer as a result.

New timetables will be available on www.njtransit.com starting on Friday, May 24, with printed copies available on trains and in stations shortly thereafter. NJ TRANSIT encourages customers to carefully review the new schedule to determine how these changes will affect their commute.

Detailed updates about the tie replacement project will be posted on njtransit.com, as well as on NJ TRANSIT’s Facebook and Twitter feeds.  Customers are encouraged to sign up for My Transit alerts to receive up-to-the-minute service information about their specific trip to their PDA, cell phone or email.  Current My Transit subscribers are reminded to update their alert preferences to reflect the new train numbers effective with the June 2 timetable change.

New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg dies at 89

New Jersey  Sen. Frank Lautenberg dies at 89
June 3, 2013
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, According to his office NJ Sen. Frank Lautenberg died this morning of viral pneumonia . He was 89.

Sen. Lautenberg was the oldest member of the Senate, and  had struggled with health problems since late last year, when he missed several weeks of votes because of what he said was flu and bronchitis.

The death of Lautenberg, a Democrat who was the longest-serving senator in New Jersey history, creates a vacancy that Governor Christie, a Republican, will fill.

Lautenberg announced in February that he would not seek re-election in 2014, but hoped to complete a series of “accomplishments” before his term ended.

Reader says the Mayor has turned the Graydon Ramp into an “us versus them” issue

Ridgewood NJ, An important point not being addressed is that the mayor, probably as recommended by White Horse Consultants, has turned the Graydon Ramp issue into an “us versus them” situation as a smokescreen. No one is considering the concept and design, in that location, on its merits.

Will this thing actually help anybody while ruining things for everyone else, chipping away to wreck a historic structure, creating an eyesore in a lovely park 12 months a year, and exacerbating already severe flooding? In other words, what makes the proposed ramp worth these losses? Can’t people see how insane it would be to push disabled people into 12 feet of water? Those are questions we wish more people were asking.

The idea is so clearly and intrinsically dumb that it should have been rejected the second after someone had it. It should never have been allowed to waste so much of the village engineer’s and everyone else’s time and snowball to this point. Now it’s a monster in more ways than one.

‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ returns for its fifth season
Sunday, June 2, 2013  Last updated: Sunday June 2, 2013, 11:12 AM

The Record

Hate means never having to say you’re sorry.

At least that’s true of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” which begins its fifth season tonight — without apology and, against all odds, with the entire feuding cast intact

Over the past four seasons, the Bravo show has featured table-flipping, hair-pulling, cursing, sibling feuding, name-calling and brawling — most recently, at a Ridgewood hair salon, during a private event on March 30. That last incident — which led to criminal charges against housewife Jacqueline Laurita, two other cast members and the man they fought with — will presumably become the big blowout episode of Season 5.

Despite all the mayhem, the “RHONJ” stars have never displayed the kind of public contrition — onscreen or off — that traditional actors who misbehave must adopt. Hugh Grant, Mel Gibson, Michael Richards, Alec Baldwin — all seemingly followed carefully crafted crisis-management scripts after their respective misdeeds became public. And after Reese Witherspoon’s recent arrest in Atlanta for disorderly conduct, the actress went on a veritable media mea culpa tour.

Staging helps sell a home after sellers move out
Sunday, June 2, 2013
The Record

The listing: Four-bedroom colonial

Location: Ridgewood

Listed by: Marilyn Nuber of Keller Williams in Ridgewood

On the market: Four months

Asking price: $1.25 million, reduced to $1.15 million

The game plan: Nuber listed the home on the multiple listing service, advertised it on the Internet, sent out mailings and held open houses. The sellers had moved out because of a new job overseas, so Nuber had the home staged because she felt an empty house would take longer to sell.
