Hackensack NJ, a 74-year-old man from Garfield sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Essex Street near Parkway in Hackensack on Wednesday evening, according to local authorities.
The accident occurred around 7:35 p.m., and Hackensack Police were quickly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered the elderly man had been hit by a 58-year-old driver from New York who was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla. According to Police Chief Michael Antista, the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
The accident took place close to Hackensack University Medical Center, allowing emergency responders to quickly render aid. The injured man was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment, though his condition remains critical.
