Dumont NJ, according to Dumont Police they received a 911 call reporting the alleged fatal assault at 11:53 p.m. Saturday. Police then responded to 124 New Milford Ave., a single family home across the street from Dumont High School, where they found the 79-year-old female victim, who was later pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center. The 30-year-old male was taken into custody.

According to officials a 79-year-old Dumont woman died after a 30-year-old male hit her with a fire poker late Saturday night.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Dumont Police Department announced their investigation Sunday morning into the possible homicide. Police did not reveal the names of the accused or the victim or their relationship in the statement.
No other details were immediately made available by the prosecutor’s office or Dumont police.
