Twinney Pond is undergoing a rapid, visible transformation, and a growing number of residents are concerned that the Village is letting a piece of local history slip away

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Councilperson Siobhan Winograd publicly announced at Wednesday night’s Village Council Public Work Session that the Village is considering deploying goats to control invasive plants at Twinney Pond. Ms. Winograd indicated that the City of New York currently has goats “on staff” performing similar tasks at several of their open space/park properties.
As previously reported by The Ridgewood Blog, the reclamation/restoration of Twinney Pond is a hot topic of late in the Village.

How much will taxpayers be forced to spend on an “architecturally pleasing” barn to house the goats?
Only Siobhan would be so excited by the prospect of goats roaming through an established Ridgewood neighborhood. Good God!
Goats don’t steal handbags.
You’ve got to be kidding.
WHAT?????
This plan has the words dumb idea written all over it.
Are you f’ing kidding me?
in 2016 Bergen County Mosquito Control stocked Twinney Pond with the mosquito eating fish ,the Gambusia fish
Bye bye goats then. Maybe the genius’s tha run this town should look into before they poison the goats. So sad
Just what the residents of million dollar plus homes want to see from their bedroom windows.
beats high density housing
Don’t blame me; I did not vote for her.
A great idea, but the pond will still need to be dredged.

Adorable !! 🩷🐐 Environment friendly way of animals and plants. Connect with nature. Better than poisonous pesticides.
Typical of the way Siobhan operates, no details were provided during the council meeting. If this is a situation where the Village plans to rent the goats, fine. If it is going to be a situation where we buy and maintain goats it’s never going to work.
They would have to hire a goat supervisor. Do they have any of them in Paterson?
Great idea. I’ve heard of it being done in lots of locations. Usually the goat owner gets a small fee for transporting. But ecological and simple.
This is great. We are overbuilding to become a mini city now they want to add livestock like it’s farmland. It just sounds STUPID.
A herd of goats would go through that park in a day
Will the Goats be invited to the grand opening of Paulie’s Performing Arts Center?
union or non union goats?
I’ve seen goats doing this sort of task in new england and it worked.
But not sure they will be able to do so here if the NYC mayor and his pals are coming here looking for dates
