Demarest NJ , The Academy of the Holy Angels is enjoying a strong surge of interest from tristate area families. Registrations for the Class of 2025 reached capacity in February 2021, and prospective high school students are now being invited to apply for the wait pool.

Young women in Grades 6, 7, and 8 are encouraged to get a head start on their AHA journey. Applications are currently being accepted for AHA Middle School, which will open this September. Students who successfully complete their middle school education at Holy Angels will gain the advantage of priority registration for entry to the high school.

“This is indeed excellent news for all of us!” AHA President Melinda Hanlon said in a message to faculty and staff. “Congratulations to the admissions team for all their efforts this year, and many thanks to all of you for your extraordinary work and contributions to the success of our recruitment efforts.”

AHA Admissions Director Michèle McGovern commented on this year’s robust high school enrollment, saying, “Students and parents alike are looking for a place where they can still experience a ‘regular’ school day, even during such a unique and challenging time.  Our administrators and teachers work hard to ensure that continues to happen at Holy Angels. AHA has continued to serve our school community with a full school day schedule of academics, lunch, clubs, and activities. Students continue to take a full day of classes each day in a hybrid learning model that includes in-person and remote instruction.”

Statistics collated by the admissions team indicate that 41% of the Academy’s Class of 2025 is currently attending Catholic schools, while 59% now attend public and other private schools.

“Students who are accepted into our wait pool are encouraged to check ‘I Accept’ on their decision tab to indicate interest should a spot become available,” McGovern explained. “The wait pool is not ranked. If and when new spots become available, families will be notified via email, and registration will open on a first come, first served basis until all new spots are filled.”

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious high school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. Over time, thousands of women have passed through AHA’s portals. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts, and athletics. The Academy’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
