After Short Police Chase Stolen Car from Ridgewood Recovered in Newark

Ridgewood NJ, in the early morning hours of Monday November 1, 2021 Ridgewood Police were dispatched to a Howard Road residence for a report of a vehicle theft in progress. Patrol converged on the area and Sgt. Kyle Finch located the vehicle near the Ho-Ho-Kus Border. The vehicle began to flee and a short pursuit ensued, which was terminated a brief time later for the safety of officers, criminals and other people driving on the roadway at the time. Other area departments aided during the incident, and a juvenile actor, believed to be involved, was located (on foot) by a Waldwick Police Unit. The stolen vehicle was located and recovered by Ridgewood Police Detectives in Newark, NJ. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Police Detective Bureau.

  3. You’re deluded if you think police will not be able to pursue criminals in a vehicle chase. Police will not call off a chase for someone who is suspected of committing a 1st or 2nd degree crime. For example, a guy shoots his wife and then attempts to flee in his vehicle, they’re are 100 percent going to initiate a pursuit. They will not call pursuits for alleged murderers, rapists, kidnapping suspects, etc…
