Ridgewood NJ, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has officially returned to the company’s board of directors after a four-month hiatus. His temporary removal from the company, which occurred during a tumultuous five-day period, stunned Silicon Valley. However, a third-party investigation concluded on Friday that there was no wrongdoing on Altman’s part that warranted his removal.

Altman played a pivotal role in the founding of OpenAI in 2015 as a nonprofit organization. Since then, the company has become a powerhouse in the field of artificial intelligence. In 2019, OpenAI established a for-profit arm, and its prominence skyrocketed with the release of ChatGPT in 2022. Despite being technically overseen by its nonprofit board, OpenAI’s valuation now stands at approximately $80 billion.

In November, Altman was ousted from his board seat and CEO position, with the board vaguely citing behavior incongruent with the company’s nonprofit mission as the reason for his departure. However, few specific details were provided. Following the ordeal, observers noted that Altman emerged with a notably increased level of influence within the company.

In addition to Altman’s reinstatement, OpenAI is also addressing a lawsuit filed by former co-founder Elon Musk regarding the company’s departure from open-source research.

  1. Altman is a freak. He seems devoid of any human feelings. I am afraid he doesn’t really care for any limits on how far this thing can go.
