The board may have been uncomfortable with Altman using OpenAI’s name for fundraising and the proposed companies not adhering to OpenAI’s capped-profit governance model. Former OpenAI President Greg Brockman, who resigned alongside Altman, expressed shock and sadness, hinting at the possibility of launching a competing company. Altman’s exit could have far-reaching implications for the AI industry and the futuristic technology he championed. While founder dismissals are not uncommon in Silicon Valley, Altman’s departure may leave a significant impact on the industry.
