Altman Cements Control of OpenAI

Ridgewood NJ, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has officially returned to the company’s board of directors after a four-month hiatus. His temporary removal from the company, which occurred during a tumultuous five-day period, stunned Silicon Valley. However, a third-party investigation concluded on Friday that there was no wrongdoing on Altman’s part that warranted his removal.

Ridgewood NJ, on Friday, Silicon Valley experienced a significant upheaval as Sam Altman, co-founder of OpenAI and a prominent advocate for artificial intelligence, was ousted by the board of directors. Altman’s dismissal stemmed from an escalating dispute with fellow co-founder Ilya Sutskever over the speed and safety of product rollouts, disagreements regarding Altman’s fundraising efforts for a separate AI chip company, and a project involving AI-related hardware with former Apple designer Jony Ive. The board may have been uncomfortable with Altman using OpenAI’s name for fundraising and the proposed companies not adhering to OpenAI’s capped-profit governance model.
