Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke personally supervised all uniformed and plainclothes officers who were assigned to provide security at an “Anti Hatred/Anti Violence” candlelight vigil held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 14 Hope Street, Ridgewood on Wednesday evening, 08/16.
The candlelight vigil was held on the lawn of Emmanuel Baptist Church and started at 7:30 p.m . It was an opportunity to reach out to your friends and neighbors .
Attendees held candles and listened intently as leaders representing many faiths spoke up and offered prayers of peace .Among the speakers were , Rev. Nolan Palsma of the Upper Ridgewood Community Church, and Pastor Joanne Van Sant, of Friends to Friends Community Church. Ridgewood Mayor Susan Knudsen also spoke.
The Ridgewood Police reported “No” incidents during the peaceful assembly of several hundred local residents. Not really sure one would have reasonably expected any. In addition to Chief Luthcke, at least five (5) other Ridgewood Police members were observed in active service during the event.
Did they in their dozens (never hundreds) decry poop-urine cocktail-throwing bike-lock clubbing George Soros-funded-and-organized leftist thug violence, or just off-their-meds kook lone-wolf never-really-cared-about-Trump-and-is-probably-a-closet-jihadi-muslim-because-he-rammed-a-crowd-with-his-car violence? Because people who value accurate history and civil stability are typically non-violent by nature. The violent ones after the advent of MAGA Trumpism have always been the crackpot minority of Trump-opposing unthinking punks, never the legions of mild-mannered Trump supporters. To claim the contrary is a lie that accurate historical accounts will never support despite the destructive efforts of the U.S. fake news cretins.
No need to virtue-signal, Ridgewood Trump-haters. We already know how soft-minded you are…
I wonder if the participants are really against violence. My suspicion is that they very likely are Trump haters which by supporting the extreme left in their mission to destroy Trump indirectly support violence. Would a vigil have taken place if someone from the other side was killed? NEVER. In addition the alt left is removing historical monuments through violence. This is hypocrisy at its best. Amazing how many sheep live in this village.
Robert E Lee was a war hero in the Mexican-American war….somehow that’s been forgotten…..

Thats why she get paid the big buck.
Chief of PD supervises the PD at the vigil?? What could possibly happen in a vigil with 50-100 people where all think alike?! Why dramatize a simple event and in the process cause more tension than necessary? Ironically the event is supposed to ease tensions.
All I see is a bunch of hippys and kids.
I can not stand the man and this is because of his life long practices of not paying his employees [currently there are over 2000 civil suits filed against him for non payment of bills]. He has a terrible reputation with women. People hate to play golf with him because he cheats and he is an habitual liar. He has been in bankruptcy several times and somehow his creditors are left hanging while he continues to live lavishly. What’s to like? If he were your neighbor or relative you would want to keep your distance. Oh yes he has no pets and his children hunt for big game.
Where is this movement when it comes to Islamic terrorism? What about the maniiac loons in Barcelona?
No, let’s stick with anything that can be anti Trump.
The first two comments that came in this morning around 9:30 am – not nice and not the types who’d like to come together!
Bruce, you are not living in reality. A certain group put this out all over social media as an anti-TRUMP rally. Yep, They were trying to stir people up and it went all over the internet. Good the police were there. All it takes is one idiot who heard about the anti-Trump rally and decided to slam into the crowd. Do you honestly think we are insulated from the violence that the nation has been experiencing? I am glad the police were there and that they took our safety seriously. This was a vigil, yes, a hate-has-ho-home-here vigil. But some were promoting it as an anti-Trump rally.

Well said.
We can not cave to the liberal progressive media and Soros’ minions.
Pantywaists. Pearl-clutchers. Pajamaboys. Useful idiots. Despisers of the faithful. Man-haters. Craven virtue signallers. Never-Trumpers frantically looking for a way to maintain their social or professional standing in view of the recent changing of the guards. Hardcore liberal progressives. Myopic academics. Special snowflakes imagining themselves to be so-called Social Justice Warriors (SJW). Naked hypocrites (because down deep, they think the violence done to the likes of Republican housemember Steve Scalise was justified, and they are further willing to turn a blind eye to the brutal assassination of a former DNC compatriot turned email document leaker, Seth Rich). Brainwashed forever teenagers who probably personally stole or destroyed every one of their neighbors’ Trump lawn sign they came across from June through November of the election year (i.e., committing violence in utter disregard for OPP). Body-snatched Pod people, out to avenge the dethroning of their seizure-prone empty pantsuit of an ideological leader Hillary by shrieking at, and condemning or socially isolating all self-identified Trump supporters and others strong-minded enough not to buy their pathetic leftist propaganda. 6:23pm, 8:37pm, 9:39pm: If even one of these shoes fits, do us all a favor, and wear it proudly.
A state senator in Missouri named Maria Chappell-Nadal – a Democrat, of course – issued a tweet on Thursday in which she said “I hope Trump is assassinated!” She left the tweet up for several hours before finally deleting it after she had begun to receive calls for her resignation from Republicans and Democrats (shocking, I know, that there are still a few Democrats alive who will actually condemn overt calls to assassinate a president) alike.
Or perhaps she decided to delete the tweet after she got her call from the Secret Service, which confirmed to media outlets that it is investigating the threat.
.
Ms. Nadal later issued a fake apology in which she took the juvenile position that she was sorry she got caught: “I posted something on my personal Facebook and I should not have done that, and for that I am sorry for that,” Chapelle-Nadal told St. Louis television station KMOV. “But I am not going to shy away from what caused that anger at all, I’m not going to shy away from that.” That’s right: the senator is such a rank dimwit that she doesn’t even know which social media site she is using to issue her hate speech at any given hour of the day.
So much hate in the comments about a vigil against hatred. This blog is so full of hate, it makes me feel sick.
8:51 no one is making you read the blog or post on it. Clearly you love it.
The Tragedy and Exploitation of Charlottesville
08/18/17 | David Limbaugh
The inexhaustible left is perpetually lying in wait to entrap President Donald Trump in some impeachable offense. Sadly, some vocal Trump critics on the right seem just as eager to purge America of Trump.
They hate him and hate that he won, and their impeachment lust will not be satiated until he’s gone.
.
The Trump haters on the right are one thing. But don’t be deceived into believing that the anti-Trump angst factories on the left are only about Trump. To be sure, these leftists hate Trump with a white-hot passion, but their primary goal is to thwart, suppress and ultimately silence political conservatism. It is to reinvigorate Barack Obama’s failed progressive agenda by any means necessary.
.
If Trump weren’t president, the left’s monomaniacal zeal to obliterate all things conservative would be unabated. Though Trump often makes their job easier, they would savage any Republican president, including the venerable Vice President Mike Pence, should he later ascend to the office. They’d maul Pence for his unapologetically Christian and social conservative views and paint him as an unmitigated bigot.
.
No matter what you think of the Charlottesville tragedy, in a limited but significant sense, it has become leftists’ new Russia — for as long as they can get mileage out of it. It is liberals’ latest best chance to discredit Trump and his agenda and run him out of town on a humiliating impeachment rail — and into the hoosegow to boot, if possible.
How ironic that these rule of law-defying opportunists are champing at the bit to impeach Trump in the name of the rule of law. They couldn’t care less about whether he’s committed any impeachable offenses under the Constitution. For them, his impeachability inheres in his political views. It predates his inauguration — and persists. Right-wingers, whether conservative ideologues or not, are intrinsically bigoted. Trump’s alleged boorishness, his lack of filter and, most of all, his tweets are just icing on the cake. Leftists shouldn’t have to tolerate occupancy of the Oval Office by a man so repugnant to them. So, the will of the people and the electoral process be damned, Trump must go. They will not rest until something they throw against the wall sticks.
.
With Collusiongate having failed them so far, they believe they’ve finally hit pay dirt with Charlottesville. When you cut through all the clutter and noise, it seems that Trump’s main sin was saying that both sides were at fault and that there were good people on both sides of the protest.
.
If I thought that by this Trump meant that there are good people among neo-Nazis and white supremacists, I would join in the strong criticism. And I admit he could have been more artful. If you are predisposed to believe that Trump is a racist, you’ll probably find something in his statement to support your predisposition.
.
But I don’t believe for a second that Trump is a racist or that he approves of white supremacy, neo-Nazism, anti-Semitism or any other form of racism or bigotry. I think that what he meant was that there are good people among those defending the monuments. And it appears that most Americans agree with that, despite the media’s conscious effort to suggest otherwise. Recent polls show that some 62 percent of Americans support preserving the monuments as historic symbols, and 67 percent of Republicans approve of Trump’s statement on Charlottesville. Do any of you really want to claim that 62 percent of Americans or 67 percent of Republicans are bigots?
.
I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say many leftists do indeed believe that. Indeed, isn’t that really at the heart of this flap? Aren’t Trump’s critics implying, in the end, that he’s a racist — or at the very least that his statement was a dog whistle to white supremacists because he believes they are an important part of his base? Are they implying that those who continue to support him are also stained by bigotry?
I don’t believe that more than the slightest fraction of a percentage of Trump supporters are neo-Nazis or white supremacists just because some of these Neanderthals choose to praise or champion Trump. I further reject that neo-Nazis, fascists and white supremacists are politically conservative, but the left’s historical revisionism enables it to smear the entire right wing with this bilious claim.
.
Some leftists have suggested that Trump was trying to create moral equivalence between the extremists on the left and the neo-Nazis, indignantly describing the leftist protesters as innocuous, noble opponents of slavery and bigotry who have no other agenda than to register their dissent against these white supremacists.
.
Please don’t accuse me of deflecting or defending the abhorrent white supremacists for this, but I am not going to sit idly by while this kind of wretched propaganda is disseminated. These misnamed leftist antifa are anti-fascist in name only and are anything but innocent. They are community organizers, often bused in from afar and funded by leftist Alinskyites to create havoc, chaos and political, social and racial unrest throughout the nation. They are up to no good, and though I won’t fall into the trap of attempting to compare the relative evils of these various groups and thereby be painted as being soft on racism, I will not be intimidated into silence about them.
.
Wouldn’t it be glorious if the media devoted just one-third of the time they spend trashing Trump to covering his policy agenda — albeit as unfair as that reportage would be? America is still stinging from the Obama years and before, and we all need to focus less on hate and angst and more on true reforms that could benefit the American people.
The violence and murder in Charlottesville are indefensible, abhorrent and gut-wrenching, and I pray that we can cut through shameless efforts at political exploitation and learn constructive lessons from this.
Producers working with Katie Couric were doused with urine last weekend while covering the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, the famed broadcast journalist revealed Friday.
.
Couric spent a tense 72 hours covering the chaos unfolding in the city near and dear to her heart (she’s a University of Virginia alum), and recalled the days’ events in an op-ed for National Geographic titled “Being in Charlottesville Broke My Heart. It Also Filled Me With Hope.”
.
The former “Today” show host revealed that on Saturday, the first day of the rally, two of her producers were standing on an elevated edge of Emancipation Park when they were hit with the unsanitary liquid.
.
“Suddenly they were doused with a concoction of human urine and mud,” she wrote. “It was thrown into the air over the crowd from what they think was a water bottle. They’re still unsure who threw it and who exactly was targeted.”
.

Couric, 60, also recalled that as a “large and violent” brawl broke out, participants launched feces-filled balloons at one another.
.
“We saw projectiles being thrown back and forth, including bottles and brown colored balloons (which another reporter told me were filled with feces),” she wrote.
.
She previously mentioned the water bottle attack on Twitter.
.
“Two of my producers just got sprayed with urine. Lovely. Hard to keep your cool,” she wrote on Aug. 12.
