Bellmawr NJ, according to the Bellmawr Police on Monday morning, May 18, 2020 shortly after 8:00 AM, Frank Trumbetti and Ian Smith, the co-owners of Atilis Gym reopened their business in violation of Executive Order 107, issued by New Jersey Governor Philip D. Murphy on March 21, 2020. This order currently remain in effect.
Executive Order 107, paragraph 9, provides in pertinent part: “All recreational and entertainment businesses, including but not limited to the following, must close to the public as long as this Order remains in effect….c. Gyms and fitness centers and classes.”
As a result of the direct violation of the terms and conditions set forth set forth in Executive Order 107, Mr. Trumbetti and Mr. Smith were both charged on a summons with a disorderly person’s offense by the Bellmawr Police Department who had a presence on scene in order to protect the public’s safety and welfare.
At Mondays Governor’s press conference ,State Police Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan said, ” I would just say that, you know, the decisions, jeopardizing of public health and safety, that’s where the Governor, that’s where every decision is based upon that. Is this in the best interests of the citizens in New Jersey? And when we get to that point, which I think we will in short order, but for now, today’s actions at that gym were a violation of the EO, and again, that’s a local police department’s jurisdiction down there. They, like I said, they issued a summons to the owner.”
On Tuesday at least one person was arrested after leaving Atilis Gym . This comes as the gym’s owners were charged again today for violating Gov. Phil Murphy’s stay-at-home order.
