Ridgewood NJ, A late night, two (2) vehicle crash on Route 17 southbound in Ridgewood on Sunday, 10/08, resulted in all southbound lanes being closed at Race Track Road for approximately one (1) hour while crews worked to clear the highway of wreckage. Multiple non-life threatening injuries were reported with victims being transported by ambulances to local area hospitals. Ridgewood Police, Fire, and EMS units responded. Ho-Ho-Kus Police assisted with traffic control. A flatbed tow truck was required to remove a wrecked 4-door sedan, and crash related debris, from the highway before all travel lanes could be reopened.

“I’ve found hypocrisy in politics fascinating as well as disgusting as it oftentimes involves women. Several months ago, in a room filled with more than 60 people, a local NJ democratic chairman made repugnant sexual based comments about a dear female professional friend of mine and yet not one person who was present said a word or spoke up. The press refused to cover the story after cowards who were present all claimed to be in the bathroom at the same time and therefore co…uldn’t confirm what had transpired.
Two years ago, another woman I know was sexually assaulted by a total piece of garbage who is prominent in NJ democratic state politics but she was convinced to remain silent by people in power as the perpetrator continues to receive promotions.
Where is the outrage one would expect against these examples? Why did people remain silent on Harvey Weinstein while accepting millions in campaign contributions? I worked in entertainment 20 years ago and stories about him were rampant back then. Why hasn’t the NJ state Democratic Party returned the monies he’s donated to them? Today, I challenge the three Democratic females running for office in my district to end their hypocrisy.
Time after time, you have launched baseless negative attacks, undertaken
hashtag politics, and fought on identity-based politics at the smallest
perceived slight or anytime you believe you can score cheap points yet you have remained silent on real issues within your own party.
Today, it is time for your games to end. The money you receive from
your Democrat Party, and from groups like Emily’s List and Emerge (which received donations of Weinstein’s money from the national Democratic Party) must be returned immediately. If it is not, and
you do not, it is clear that your words are meaningless.
The money you have taken is tainted by the very things you say you
oppose. Money from Hollywood’s Harvey Weinstein, who we now know
is an accused serial sexual assaulter has flowed into the coffers of your state
party. Millions of dollars were also raised at a state party fundraiser arm in arm with Alec Baldwin, who is well-known for calling a NY Daily News photographer a ‘nutty bi#*h,’ deriding a Starbucks barista an ‘uptight queen,’ an airline stewardess who asked him to stop playing a video game and attacking his own daughter by calling her a ‘pig’ who ‘doesn’t have brains.
When candidates stand silent because it helps them financially but then
play politics on the same issue to help their ambitions, it’s clear they only care about one things: themselves.”
Ridgewood NJ, Linwood Avenue will be closed to through traffic on Tuesday, October 10th and Wednesday, October 11th for roadway milling and on Tuesday, October 17th for paving (weather permitting). The closure will be from Paramus Road to Pascack Road. A detour will be set up sending traffic to East Ridgewood Ave. Access for local houses and businesses will be allowed, however expect delays. The work is expected to start at 7am and finish at 5pm each day. Thank you for your patience during this county road resurfacing project.

Dr. David A. Robinson is a professor in the Department of Geography at Rutgers University and also serves as New Jersey’s State Climatologist. His research interests are in applied climate, especially related to New Jersey, and in climate dynamics and change, particularly focused on global snow cover. He is a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and sits on climate advisory committees for the National Academy of Sciences and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He has chaired two National Research Council panels and the American Meteorological Society’s Polar Meteorology and Oceanography Committee, and is a past president of the American Association of State Climatologists. Dr. Robinson was recently elected a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and has received a NOAA Environmental Hero award, as well as the Lifetime Achievement award of the Association of American Geographer’s Climate Specialty Group.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is calling on Congress to hold hearings to address the rising number of tragedies occurring on our nation’s roadways, following today’s announcement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that overall traffic fatalities and those caused by drunk driving increased for the second straight year.
According to NHTSA, 37,461 people were killed in traffic crashes in 2016, and drunk driving was involved in 10,497 traffic fatalities. Drunk driving fatalities are up 1.7 percent over 2015, when 10,320 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes. The new data shows a 5.6 percent increase in overall traffic fatalities — up from 35,485 traffic fatalities in 2015. The overall traffic fatality increase of 8.4 percent in 2015 was the largest increase since 1963 to 1964, and alcohol-related fatalities increased in 2015 by 3.2 percent.
In New Jersey, the toll was 601 people, the NHTSA reported.New Jersey saw a nearly 27 percent increase in alcohol-impaired driving fatalities, the fifth highest rate in the nation.
“for the second year in a row, we are seeing increases in highway deaths — both overall and alcohol-related — after years of steady decline. We cannot stand by while more families are left to pick up the pieces after these tragedies,” said MADD National President Colleen Sheehey-Church. “Everyone needs to step up to find a solution to this national crisis.”
MADD remains laser focused on the Campaign To Eliminate Drunk Driving, launched in 2006. The Campaign supports high-visibility law enforcement, such as sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols, state laws requiring ignition interlocks for all drunk driving offenders, development of advanced vehicle technology and public support for these initiatives. Drunk driving deaths have decreased by 22 percent since the Campaign launched, but the past two years of increases shows that more must be done.
Ignition interlock laws are a key feature of MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving. The newly released NHTSA data shows a continued decline in states with ignition interlock laws. Thirty states and the District of Columbia have passed ignition interlock laws for all drunk driving offenders. MADD calls on every state to pass all-offender ignition interlock laws and improve existing laws to ensure all offenders use an ignition interlock as soon as possible after a drunk driving offense.
MADD also encourages every law enforcement agency to participate in NHTSA’s upcoming Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign to increase enforcement in December.
“While vehicle safety is improving, 94 percent of all traffic deaths are caused by human error,” Sheehey-Church wrote in a letter to members of Congress. “MADD is concerned that the trending increase in highway deaths points to a public health crisis that has largely gone unnoticed.”
Ridgewood NJ, John Wohlberg is the Owner-Operator at JH Renovations, LLC in Ridgewood. John told the Ridgewood blog that , “he has been in business for over 20 years. My father was a Contractor now a site safety manager in NYC. Still working full time at 82. My Brother also a Contractor and a Licensed Building Inspector which has been a good information source for me throughout the years in terms of the Building Codes, various inspectors etc.”
John interestingly enough he also has a Real Estate License ( Referral Only) and a BA in Psychology. John went on to say he was an Art Major in High School and that’s been helpful in helping clients come up with designs.
John says,” I worked briefly at Keller Williams in Ridgewood but now have my License over at Alexander Andersen in Hackensack.”
John says , “My niche is an all in one saving clients the hassle of hiring a designer or in some cases, an architect. I guess somewhat of a DIY Contractor educating the client on the options”
We asked about his geographic area John concentrates on Ridgewood, Glen Rock , but have done work in every town in Bergen County. He generally will not travel outside Bergen County. According to John , “What tends to happen is we keep about 3 projects going at a time and taking on a project too far away can result in a local customer who doesn’t get taken care of properly so we learned early on not to bite off more then we can chew. Your reputation suffers and as a word of mouth business owner, that can be costly”
John says , “A lot of times what happens is that we will get a referral and will start off doing something small but once trust is built up, we end coming back to do something larger. We have a big database of repeat customers.We’ve gotten calls to paint a room and ended up staying for 3 or years off and on Renovating almost every room in the house. We try to be as user friendly as possible.”
He belongs to the Ridgewood Chamber, Hackensack Chamber and former member of the Glen Rock Chamber, Ridgewood Business Connections.
John says he understands the older home in Ridgewood, “I’m different from a builder as I deal with a lot of these old, Ridgewood homes. Most are built outta level and you have to be creative to try to make whatever room your renovation blend into the existing décor. You don’t want to go to modern and sacrifice an architectural integrity of the home.
John says , “the bottom line about my business, I love what I do but my body sometimes doesn’t , My tag line is “Building a Family of Satisfied Customers”. I try to live by that motto. ”

Chris has been a pastor for 15 years, 7 here in Saddle Brook. The congregation averages about 70 people on Sundays. Chris said , “As the NJ Legislature is part-time, my main priority is my congregation. There are set days for business in Trenton, Mondays and/or Thursdays so I will adjust my congregation hours around that but will remain at the same they are now. My main issues are making NJ more affordable, helping small businesses , creating a Main Street economy, Social Services reform, and bring the community partnership concept to the other towns in the District.”
Chris got the political bug while working at the state assembly many years ago and now feels that in order to practice what you preach in church you need to go out and engage the community .
We asked Chris has his Christian faith ever been an issue on the campaign trail and he said surprisingly ,”No” .
Christopher Wolf is running for assembly, with Kelly Langschultz for Senate, and Billy Leonard for assembly against long time Senator Bob Gordon, assemblymen Tim Eustace and Joe Lagana.
Chris has been spreading the message of affordability, leadership, and community , in in towns like Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Hawthorne, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge, Rochelle Park, and Saddle Brook . He love events , but he says ,”going door to door in the D38 towns is the best. I love the purity of it , just meeting and talking neighbor to neighbor. And it’s working. People are responding well to our team. Part of the purpose of New Jersey’s Second Chance is to inspire people to believe in leaders and in government again.”
That’s right Chris calls his platform New Jersey’s Second Chance , and says ” it’s because I believe in redemption for New Jersey (Trenton) and it’s a play on the title of my first book, Giving Faith a Second Chance “.
Chris described his life to us as , “Improbable. So many of my stories could be described as improbable. Where I am now, after growing up in a garden apartment in Fair Lawn. You know, I was the kid who played baseball in sneakers because there were times when we couldn’t afford cleats. Becoming a minister and much more. Now I’m on the brink of the most improbable chapter yet – two months from being elected to represent you in the New Jersey General Assembly. You know me, I’ll bring principled, passionate, honorable, game-changing leadership to District 38 towns and to Trenton. It’s a critical time for the campaign”
Chris summed it all up for us , “I want people to look back on November 2017, and know that they were a part of New Jersey’s Second Chance – the season in which we began to redeem our state from financial and social ruin – and started over with affordability, thriving small businesses, and connected communities.”

Lovecraft was born in Providence, Rhode Island, where he spent most of his life. Among his most celebrated tales are “The Call of Cthulhu” and “The Shadow over Innsmouth”, both canonical to the Cthulhu Mythos. Lovecraft was never able to support himself from earnings as author and editor. He saw commercial success increasingly elude him in this latter period, partly because he lacked the confidence and drive to promote himself. He subsisted in progressively strained circumstances in his last years; an inheritance was completely spent by the time that he died at age 46.

I absolutely agree. I go to my nail appointment 9:30am, very little is open. But all parking spaces near the shop are taken. And when I go to lunch, ~11:30am, hoping to get a space, same issue. Must be at least some employees in the spaces, maybe more. You don’t see people walking in and out of stores, walking on the streets at these early times. And 2 shop owners have confirmed to me – when I have asked – that the spaces are taken by employees – they see them. Apparently the employees are able to park 3 hours, just like shoppers. Just put money in the meters. It may be legal, but it’s certainly not good for the vibrancy of downtown shopping or the customers.
Ridgewood NJ, more bad news for the NFL .The Winston Poll from the Washington-based Winston Group found that the attitude of those fans went from an August rating of 73 percent favorable and 19 percent unfavorable to 42 percent favorable and 47 percent unfavorable, a remarkable turn against the sport.
According to the poll analysis, “more critically for the NFL, the fall off in favorables occurred among important audiences. Among males, NFL favorables fell 23 percent, going from 68 percent to 45 percent. In looking at a more specific audience, males 34-54, NFL favorables fell 31 percent, going from 73 percent to 42 percent. Among this group the NFL has a surprising negative image, as it went from +54 percent in August to -5 percent in September.”
The Winston Poll was of brand images for the NFL, Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, and college football and basketball. It was of 1,000 registered voters and taken August 29-30 and then again September 28-29.
In just over one month since the National Anthem protests started the National Football League has gone from America’s sport to the least liked of top professional and college sports, according to a new poll.
