I would like to take this opportunity to let Ridgewood residents know who I am as a candidate running for the primary elections as a Republican. 
   
As a person who espouses liberty and the ideals of our constitution, it is important to support like minded individuals. Running for surrogate entails safeguarding minors and those who need their wealth protected by appointing someone to administer on their behalf. It is a constitutional office and one that carries much responsibility. Wednesday Night Fire in Fair Lawn Turns Up a Gruesome Discovery

Fair Lawn NJ,  According to Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal an elderly couple and their adult son were found dead of gunshot wounds inside a burning house at 13-24 Fourth Street late Wednesday night in an apparent double murder suicide.

The Bergen County Prosecutor Richard released the names ;Tempe Sr., 76, and his wife Barbara, 73, and son Richard Jr., 53, adding the fire set intentionally .

Grewal said, “the matter is limited to a domestic event” and that a weapon was recovered.

The fire was reported at 11:36 p.m., Fair Lawn Sgt. Brian Metzler said in a press release early Thursday morning. The grey slate building has a damaged roof and the heat of the fire knocked out the top windows.

Fair Lawn Mayor John Cosgrove said a firefighter was treated at a hospital and released at 3 a.m. He would not disclose the exact nature of his injuries.

The prosecutor’s office is now awaiting the results of a report from the medical examiner on the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Fire Department personnel used a set of handheld forcible entry tools to free the adult female driver of a Toyota RAV4 who was pinned in her vehicle after it collided with a beverage delivery truck at the intersection of North Maple Avenue and Linwood Avenue early Wednesday evening, 06/01.

The victim sustained a serious head injury and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. A paramedic unit from The Valley Hospital assisted at the scene. The heavily damaged Toyota was removed by a tow truck

Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Public Schools is assisting the Village of Ridgewood in distributing a survey on safe routes to school. The data collected will assist the Village in creating safer walking and biking conditions in the Village.

Schedler Park Development in Ridgewood put on hold

Ridgewood NJ, the major news from last nights council meeting was that Schedler Park has been put on hold until 2017 and only under the direction of the new Village Council with the use of expert studies.

This is a huge victory for the neighborhood who has been fighting to preserve both the natural environment at Schedler but also preserve the historic significance of the sight .

Neighbors felt the sight was unsuitable for a baseball field for many reasons including the noise from Route 17, parking issues and the lack of road infrastructure ,which they felt would overwhelm the neighborhood.

There was also fears that wildlife habitat would be lost when it was discovered eagles used the area as a food source.

Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward leaves for the Private Sector end of June

Ridgewood NJ , after 35 years Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward is leaving the village for the private sector.

John Ward, who was the chief of police in the Village the past six years, will become director of public safety at Queensborough Community College starting June 27.

The official announcement came at Wednesday night’s Village Council meeting.

According to sources Capt. Jacqueline Luthcke will likely become officer in charge of the department while village officials decide how to proceed.

 The Chief have been very active promoting public education through various events in the Village ,he has taken a decidedly lower profile in recent months.

Ridgewood NJ, The League Of Women Voters Of Ridgewood wishes to remind registered voters who have de-
clared affiliation with a political party (currently only Republican and Democratic parties qualify for primary elections) of the upcoming New Jersey Primary Election on Tuesday, June 7.

If you are an unaffiliated voter, you may declare a political party at the polls the day of the primary election. It is now however too late to change from one party to another.(must be done at least 55 days before the primary election) Polls are open from 6:00am-8:00pm.

Research: Long-Term Use Of Benadryl, Many Over-The-Counter Cold Medications Linked To Dementia

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — New research is warning about a possible link between a very common allergy medicine and dementia.

CBS2’s Dr. Max Gomez reported that long-term use of an antihistamine known as diphenhydramine, which is commonly sold as Benadryl and included in many over-the-counter medications for cold and allergies, may increase the risk of dementia and even cause irreparable harm.

Diphenhydramine, which also causes drowsiness, is in popular sleep aids such as Tylenol PM, Advil PM, and ZZZQuil.

“I would take these medications myself only very rarely and I will try at all costs to avoid taking them for a long term,” Stanford psychiastrist Barbara Sommer said.

TEWKSBURY — Donald Trump may have locked up the Republican presidential nomination, but one of the state’s most prominent GOP leaders is urging the party faithful to vote against him in next week’s New Jersey primary.

Former Gov. Christie Whitman, a two-term Republican governor, said Republicans should make a statement and cast a protest vote for Ohio Gov. John Kasich or U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in the June 7 primary.

“I hope voters will express what they feel. Don’t be steamrolled into thinking you have to be for Donald Trump because he’s now locked up the nomination,” Whitman said in an interview at her Hunterdon County farm Friday.
