Bogota NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Bogota Police Department are investigating a fatal fire that occurred at 320 River Road, Bogota, on Saturday, November 18, 2023. At approximately 5:59 a.m., the Bogota Police Department received a report of a fire at 320 River Road. Police officers responded along with the Bogota Fire Department and neighboring fire departments. First responders located an unconscious male victim inside the residence, who was later pronounced deceased at Hackensack University Medical Center. A female victim escaped from the residence prior to the arrival of police and fire personnel. She was evaluated on scene by emergency medical services and declined transport to a hospital.
An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bogota Police Department under the direction of Chief Daniel Maye. No additional information is available at this time.
