BERGEN PROSCUTORS OFFICE INVESTIGATES OF FATAL HOUSE FIRE IN LODI

Lodi NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced an investigation into a fire at 200 Westminster Place, Lodi, NJ that involved a fatality. The investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and the Lodi Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Scorzetti.

On Monday, December 28, 2020, at approximately 5:59 a.m., the Lodi Police Department received a 911 call reporting a house fire at an occupied multi-family dwelling located at 200 Westminster Place in Lodi. The Lodi Fire Department was dispatched, and Lodi Police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit Arson Squad. An investigation revealed that the fire started on the second floor of the building and numerous occupants evacuated the residence through the front door and second floor windows. One occupant, Ezequiel Gonzalez (DOB: 8/23/1995), was unable to exit the structure and was found deceased. The cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation.

Prosecutor Musella would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lodi Police and Fire Departments for their assistance in this investigation.
