Bizarro World (with apologies to Seinfeld) by Anne Loving
So tonight at the Village Council Meeting two very strange things happened.
1. Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld stated that she has started going around to parking lots to check on availability and has found ample available spots in the Cottage Place lot as well as in the N. Walnut lot. First of all, why is she doing an informal unscientific study of available parking when countless dollars have been spent on actual parking studies? Second, so many people have stated that there are always available spots if one is willing to walk a couple of blocks, so this is not news. And, of course, most bizarre of all is why in the heck is Roberta reporting about all this available parking when she is spearheading the gigantic garage that is supposedly so necessary?
2. Councilwoman Gwenn Hauck issued a parental reprimand to those who use social media (she being a major contributor herself). She said that before anyone posts, they should do a “gut check” (I think that was her term) and ask themselves if what they are about to post is something they would put in a national newspaper. Wait a minute, this is coming from the person who has called residents various unflattering (and highly inaccurate) names including “stalker,” “creepy,” and “terrorist.” And this same councilwoman kept dead silent when a member of the public called an entire group of fellow citizens “fornicators.” Huh? Might one suggest that the good Councilwoman gut-check her own language, and control the council meetings when members of the public use vulgar language.
Wow.
1) Correct, this is not news….good to see that Roberta is at least practicing MBWA…Management by Walking Around.
2) Not sure what to say…but at least I know where the “fornicators” comment came from so I feel good about that.
I can’ t believe Channel’s 2,4,5,7 or 11 have not picked up on what is going on here. Does’t anyone have a contact ? Think it’s about time someone got one ?
Yesterday Weds April 6 th I arrived back from city around 4 pm to my parked car at cottage place and it was wide open..coincidentally the parking enforcement officer was bean counting the hundreds of open spots..likely for his Manager or Roberta..funny he was scratching his head a lot while counting empty spaces..this town is so stupid…beyond an unneeded 12m dollar bonding for a slum making garage for the restauranties peak dreams of baskets of cash..and landlords deflecting school age kid counts. Meanwhile Valley issue burns red hot while the town management bean counts an empty parking lot ..after raising rates..who’d a thunk it dude..?.?

In all fairness, the guy who uttered the biblical f bomb was tongue tied… he meant fabricator if you listen to what he was saying…

Marsha Kramer would have at it here..where to start..its a field of shady issues and barnyards. VALLEY Expansion would likely get them up here..they would need to open up office here through with constant feeds…
Jim Griffiths who called a bunch of people fornicators is not addled. He is very with it, and he regularly uses slanderous language. He is actually quite nasty even while smiling. He is loud and obstreperous. So, sorry Paul Smith, he meant exactly what he said. Aronsohn absolutely should have STOPPED him immediately and asked him to cease and sit down. Aronsohn is the chairman of the VC meetings and as such it is his job to maintain decorum. He did not stop him because he agreed with him. And when Aronsohn failed to speak up, others on the council should have done so. Even the Village Attorney should have stopped him. And certainly miss judgemental Hauck could have stepped in, but oh no she loves Jim and Rurik and would never criticize either of them.
Paul Smith. I never had any context for his statement Calling people fornicators. What you said makes a lot of sense. In the year 2016 no one would use that expression.
Back to Roberta talking about all the spaces available on Cottage lot and Walnut lot. So many available at Cottage that they are going to watch it before moving forward with the possible 80 spots on the lot behind the movie theater. Even though the Walker report indicated availability on those lots she has detected discrepancies with the report and is doing her own detective work. What the hell are they plotting now? Yet, people are incapable of walking all the way across the CBD (3 blocks) to eat at a restaurant, that we have to build a monstrosity garage at $12 million dollars?
