Ridgewood NJ, “Due to a significant drop in water pressure in a Midland Park neighborhood, related to excessive lawn watering, Ridgewood Water is issuing a precautionary boil water advisory for Midland Park and parts of Ridgewood and Wyckoff.” [Posted/shared via Facebook by Ridgewood Water on Saturday, September 21, 2024.]
A “significant drop in water pressure,” but no documented notification to fire officials in either Midland Park, Ridgewood, or Wyckoff to have firefighters and/or tanker trucks filled with water on emergency standby?
“Related to excessive lawn watering,” but no notice to residents of the affected area(s) to stop watering their lawns?
Something just didn’t add up, so the staff of the Ridgewood Blog started asking questions.
And what we found out from a confidential source was this weekend’s boil water advisory was likely triggered by human error at Ridgewood Water’s Wortendyke treatment facility, located in Midland Park. It was said that someone there forgot to hit the switch to fill water storage tanks serving Midland Park and portions of Ridgewood and Wyckoff. “Excessive lawn watering” played no role in the boil water advisory.
Why can’t we ever seem to get the straight story on anything to do with Village business of late? Covering up every screw up in advance of Election Day? And if history repeats itself, no heads will roll in connection with this preventable mess.

Time to sell the water company to an outfit that knows how to manage things properly.
On what basis are you assuming a private water company manages better than Ridgewood Water ? Facts please.
At this point I think any water company would be better than Ridgewood. My friends in HOHokus seem to be doing fine with their water company
A private water company probably won’t pay town (village) expenses by overcharging the customers in the surrounding towns that they serve. Shame on Ridgewood
then how will all the nepo babies get a job? have you ever checked school and municipal new hires?
Or at the very least one that has employees that remember to flip a seemingly important switch 🤪
Long, long overdue.
This is wonderful news, one screw up at the next. Again, we will bring this up. Can anyone tell us what the village water company is worth in millions. No one seems to give out that answer because I’m sure another work company would love to buy it and can I give an exact number how much money came in And how much funds went out. And how much money comes from the Ridgewood water company to pay for other budget items because you know that’s going on and don’t worry people you’ll see a few people put thumbs down on this subject.
What happened to the water in ridgewood. Years ago it was great. Now it’s terrible.
Privatization of utilities resulting in increased costs and lowered quality?!?Who coulda thunk it?
yes too bad it not privatized
It used to be awesome. What happened or WHO happened?
No wonder why they (Village Manager) couldn’t give a straight answer.
Completed INCOMPETENCE, from the Village Manager down.
They are playing with people’s lives and wellbeing. ENOUGH!
I see the Village Manger is going to keep covering up for his staff.
Rather than integrity and accountability, easier to blame the residents and keep collecting paychecks.
Meanwhile, the Village Manager and Mayor were tone deaf and posting pictures of a soccer game.
They were campaigning at the game! they just don’t understand ethics.
It’s gone too far. The mayor has to go and all others need to follow him out the door 🤞🏻
Suspected as much after a drive-by the watertank on top of the hill on West in Glen Midland Park 2 days ago . Add a bit of “critical thinking” and observation led me to believe that the message from Rwood H2O was a “BS” cause/excuse . Drive -by revealed a couple of Water Dept EE’s, one in a yellow safety vest were at the curb with water visiblly running down the steet (W Glen) at rhe curb towards Rwood. One was texting on his phone. The voicemail message did not make sense and was for an an isolated area. Time to wake folks up to see what and who are behind the curtain ar Rwood H2O for this and a host of other issues. Anyone with the slightest business/finance/captail spending experience and a set of eyes can see all the “new vehicles” and equipment on the streets. Sadly, elections do have consequences and administrative/political appointees seem to follow the old “Peter Principal”. Who has the cajones to pull back the curtain, expose and hold the “wizards of Rwood H2O” accountable and fix the issues that plague it. The water report quality reports are long in the tooth and seem to almost be carbon copies of the previous ones. Progress is a snail’s pace for such a critical utility. Would like to see a front page taxpayer/customer summary stating in one sentence, just what has changed from the last one and a critical path summary for each well with “Milestones” and completion dates as to when they will be in 100% compliance(and/or exceeding) with NJS PFAS/forever chemicals and substances standards. No more excuses – make the “buck” stop!!
Get a group together and get a big wig attorney that can investigate and get to the bottom of everything. Even feed the frontlines. Everyone chip in to pay and let’s take Ridgewood back to the hometown it used to be!!!
Why is village manager everywhere on social media? doesn’t he have a day job? Do we really need a village manager AND a DIRECTOR level social media person (combined salary and benefits of over 500K a year) to post on social media all day?
That’s insane.
It’s even worse than you think. Apparently an employee either wasn’t properly trained or is just a complete incompetent because they’ve accidentally been pressing the Poison the Water button instead of the Do Not Poison the Water button this entire time. I give you my word as a Biden that this is true.
People make mistakes, but if this is true, it is unacceptable to lie about the reason and tell people it’s their own fault for not wanting to let their plants and yards die.
We pretty much are just getting kids over and over again about everything. Get used to it or vote them out!!!
Calbi must go. Period
I love it, someone’s not performing again, well I don’t blame the worker. I blame the management because they suck. This is what happens when you hire a new workforce with no experience oh yeah and friends enjoy, wash your hands.
do you mean to say someone in the town LIED… shocking
Questions, Why if water was to be boiled was Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks ,7-11, park wood deli and every place that serves coffee not affected? Why was health dept not involved if food establishments were to comply as well as the public? Why was mayor not in contact with county and/ or contact with the public through reverse 911? Why was the community not provided water through emergency management? Why does the public take Ridgewood water and everything they say as a joke? The last question … I already know the answer.
Your water is already filled with a bunch of crap you’re not supposed to drink. It’s not a big deal.
